manchesters indigo is an artist that was always in our sights for a horo release when the label was created. an open minded, experimental individual that takes on different tempos constantly and masters them with his own unique style to the point that the speed of the music is unrecognisable.

liam blackburn’s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord’s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style.

liam blackburn s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style. each remixer chose their own track from night of visions to work with. the first name on our remix list was swedish producer and northern electronics label head - abdulla rashim. choosing invocations , his remix focuses on the hypnotic power of the original, turning the tune into a golden loop with subtle kick drum stabs, sweeping percussion and a dangling tension that hangs through the entire 7.33 minutes. asc & sam kdc chose feathered serpent and using just touches of the original tune have masterfully built an all new backbone that demonstrates clearly the ability of the grey area sound to work at 2 different tempo s and weld together with straight techno.

esteemed techno producers and join the samurai horo fold for the first release post *scope*. the perfect fusion of experimental 170 bpm rooted music and techno, both *fvs* and *gva* unveil new approaches and structures that perfectly execute the desired welding of genres that we have always hoped to achieve with the samurai horo label. *1ac* adds a corrosive drone to the 12 inch pushing further into abstract electronica. limited lilac coloured & marbled vinyl 12 inch only.

horo was a cloak attached to the back of armour worn by elite samurai messengers in wartime. capturing an elite tsukai-ban messenger wearing a horo was a coveted prize and in much the same way, a release on horo is a prize, a reward for artists willing to experiment, take risks and truly progress. this has been demonstrated by the fact we now have artists writing music specifically for the horo series.

horo gives true artists the freedom to represent the full extent of their talent and it is not often the cerebellum is truly engaged with the genre we have grown from but music for the mind is one of our over-arching ideals. and so we come to *scope*, the 10th release, a full length compilation spread over 5 vinyl 12 inches. deviating somewhat from our vinyl only position up to this point, given the scale and magnitude of this project scope will also be released on cd & digital, although there will also be 5 vinyl only tracks by way of thanks to the vinyl buyers that have supported the label up to this point. 24 tracks of uncompromising, innovative music from horo mainstays and new artists alike, scope represents where we have come from, but moreover, where we will be going. this is just the beginning.

samurai horo is pleased to welcome another of our favorite musical sound-scapers to the label as we continue our quest to go deeper. sam kdc has proved himself constantly as a unique individual with the power to craft elegant and emotive layers of sound that take you away to special, often contemplative states. his tunes for horo are multi dimensional and combine subtlety and grace in a blissful package. >between dreams< is the soundtrack to exactly that, transporting you slowly from one to the next, while >downpour< adds a touch of shade to the dream. aural drifting, velvet like states, your forgotten dreams now have a soundtrack…
