stu crosbie did it again!

as the summer closes and the autumn arrives the project releases its next selection with label boss frazer campbell and dark arts techno head stu crosbie. not a stranger to the label having appeared on the previous release stuart once again delivers his unique filtered sound of stripped back minimal techno with hints of trippy yet groovy influences of dark back room excursions. a real master of simplicity but exact definition of sombre sounds. the flip side presents a very different sonic description by frazer. ‘bleeding gums’ holds broken beat kicks with rolling drums but as always carries a true sense of emotion and warmth. the ep closes with ‘deebling mugs’ which is a production full of drive, dirty basslines and groove that will keep any dance floor moving as we wave goodbye to the summer of 2017.

with growing support from technos finest selectors, this uk label is fast becoming one-to-watch if sci-fi-laden machine music is your bag. dark arts 06 rolls out with ‘gallery’, a crafty slab of organ-burning techno. to follow, rugged detuned bass throbs throughout the raw but funky as hell stealth-houser ‘spare groove’. the aquatic electro of ‘opaline’ is a delicate, percussion-driven ride until the chest-caving bottom end hits.to finish, ‘atrium’ is a deadly, percussion packed minimal groove - heads down and eyes closed for this tense space jam. highly recommended!

kicking off with acid-soaked stepper x da05 sees the uk imprint continue to explore the darker recesses of the dancefloor. a bottom end as deep as you like combines with razor sharp percussion on this basement techno workout. the sound design of black science (version) warps the bleep techno blueprint into a swaggering half time roller before black science itself arrives. this dramatic piece merges tense, millsian atmospherics with stratospheric strings to create a timeless piece of expansive sci-fi techno. the filth ridden debris, a bottom-heavy groove for those of a serious disposition, rounds off another killer four track salvo of techno futurism from this on-point label.

earlier this year, this shadowy label came from nowhere straight onto the globes deeper floors, from panorama bar to fabric and many in between. provoking comparisons with classic uk labels like b12 and irdial, the ep gained number 1 chartings and found its way into a wide array of dj boxes, with the likes of dvs1, dbridge, roger 23, justin miller (dfa), dario zenker, deep space helsinki, dj mourad and surfaces nick dunton all hooked.

elliot project 003 due out in late may 2017 moves towards a selection of interesting pieces with two originals by greek artist hemo. the first original, entitled ‘clouds’ is a moving electro journey with powerful pads and subtle basslines. ‘dogman’ turns a corner delivering a cosmic styled disco flight with catchy riffs and resonating bass leads. s. crosbie from the dark arts imprint also joins the project remixing ‘clouds’ into stripped back techno and frazer campbell closing off the release with an emotion fueled version of ‘dogman’.
