otherworldly caribbean electronic dance floor cuts! arousing prog-zouk and abstract futurism from the french west indies by synthesist claude rodap, released on vinyl for the first time. huge tip! in the early eighties, a time where french caribbean musicians were searching for their own sound, claude rodap mixed traditional gwo-ka, bel air, biguine with synthetic sounds, resulting in magical, adventurous outcome. recorded in the nineties and in 2000, the dreamy, sensuous three tracks on beletronic are the deliberate result of more than a decade of his experimentation.

this nyc house master piece was originally released in 1990. ben cenac aka dream 2 science released this african influenced house lp under his push/pull moniker. it sounds somewhere in between the nyc band no smoke (koro koro) and the dream 2 sciences signature sound. original copies are rare!

1per customer , repress from the debut album from slovenian act videosex. while little known outside of the former yugoslavia, videosex’s self-titled debut album from 1984 sold in significant numbers, making superstars of the young slovenian musicians responsible for making it. the set not only helped turn yugoslavian teenagers on to the possibilities of western-style electronic pop, but also inspired them via satirical, often explicit lyrics. their debut performance at the novi rock festival in ljubljana lead to an immediate contract offer from slovenia’s biggest record label. it wasn’t long before the band were holed up in studio top ten in ljiublana recording what would become their debut album. they effectively moved in to the studio for days and weeks on end, clocking up well over 200 hours of recording time in which they mixed experimentation with a desire to polish each song to perfection. the result is their first album which includes nine songs touching a variety of sexually charged subjects including erotica, lesbianism, voyeurism and sadism.

the 80s italo disco /proto-house classic ‘mbo theme’ by the mighty klein & mbo, repressed! comes with an heavy (and unheard) south african version on the flip. huge tip! the mbo theme (1983) has been a dance floor favorite since decades, created by mario boncaldo and tony carrasco - the legendary italian/us duo klein & mbo. the track got support in nyc and chicago by greats as larry levan, frankie knuckles and ron hardy.
the rare version on the flip is created by a south-african band called warrior. rush hour explain how they came across the track: “we bumped into this version on a south african record digging trip. it took us a few months to realize the scarcity of this version. ian osrin, a well respected engineer in south-africa who was involved in many 80ties and 90ties bubblegum, kwaito and south african disco records, explained us about music distribution in south africa during apartheid.

heat in two belgian flavors! check out the zaïrian electronic dance floor banger “nakombe nga” by les choc stars. comes with the dope, largely unheard belgium new beat version on the flip from the teknokrat s. both tracks were originally released in 1989 and this is the first time they appear together on 12-. reissue co-curated with renowned record fiend john gomez. the music on this winning double-sider was written by tony baron and gery françois, two belgian producers that were involved in several musical projects on the new beat scene in the 1980s. they worked under many aliases and recorded the teknokrat’s haunting “what did she say?” at the famous studio madeleine in brussels in 1989. prompted by jean martin from espera records, baron adapted the music into a further two songs to be released that year, virginity’s melancholic “the key”, and the surprising but ear catching collaboration with the label’s soukous stars, ben nyamabos les choc stars du zaire. it is still a mystery how the seeds were planted for the one-off pairing that culminated in the electronic soukous bomb “nakombe nga”. what is certain is that it is set to light up dancefloors worldwide.

south african house and synth-funk from the kwaito era by the legendary senyaka kekana. the unexpected deep house jam bayanyonyoba (1993) and the illustrious soul song dont judge me bad (1987) are big rh favorites. original copies are absolutely impossible to find, now released on 12inch for the first time. beautiful sleeve by stenze quo! esa williams i had the pleasure of performing alongside senyaka at the alexander theatre, johannesburg back in 2012 which would have probably been his last most iconic gig before his passing in 2015. these two tracks really showcase the sounds of south africa around the early to late 80’s, the influences from american synth pop and house that would then lead later into many of these records being played at the wrong speed which ultimately became the original kwaito sound from south africa

compiled by hunee, sounds from the far east features highly sought after material by legendary japanese house producer soichi terada and fellow producers shinichiro yokota, manabu nagayama! soichi terada is an adventurous multitalent and over all a good sport. he was born in the sixties, and as a child he loved to play on his fathers electric organ. terada majored in computer science and electric organ and after he graduated, he founded his far east recording in 1989, because he couldnt find a label for his compositions at that time.

the exclusive mandre 4 finally sees a proper release. after his three notorious albums for motown, mandre released his fourth record in the bay area on his privately run future groove label. the story goes that just after the album was shipped, the remaining stock was accidentally destroyed in the warehouse.
