we celebrate five years of freakadelle recordings with our 10th release “x”, consisting of four hand-picked tracks by our residents, which on the one hand represent the diversity of our artists and on the other hand also portray the strong musical development and the cohesion of our subcultural community over the past years.
left ear are re-introducing another ten lost tracks from nicholas georgieff and virgil work, st louis basement electronics duo workdub. the release spans material from 1989-95 and includes recordings from their sole lp and both cassette albums. workdubs music hardly fits into a vacuum and some might even say it’s otherworldly. tracks like reach for the stars and lunar module reflect dreams of space-age exploration, all the while their investigation into drum machines, synthesizers, samples matched with their organic live instrumentation work to create a unique atmospheric dubbed out sound.
wie klingt es, wenn zwei künstler mit annähernd 30 jahren altersunterschied zusammen elektronische musik produzieren? im falle von mige ist das ergebnis ein provokantes stück clubmusik, das vor allem eines nicht ist: konventionell. mal auf das minimum reduziert, mal zu einer dichten klangwolke geschichtet (b-seite), mal verschoben und laid back, dann wieder gerade und nach vorne. das kontrollierte dem zufall überlassen, den hypnotischen moment einzufangen und nicht mehr loszulassen wird bei gerald peklar und mike myrs aka mige zum tonangebenden stilmittel.

new year - new music. the label freakadelle starts the year 2017 with -superis ep- by gerald peklar - founder of the association freakadelle. the ep is a sampler from the same-titled album, which was released on reflex recordings in 2016. the tracks have been reworked particularly for the dance floor and feature precise shuffled grooves, driving basslines and a reduced but sufficient amount of sound elements. only b1 (superis5) is the odd one out, being a dreamy and spheric electronica track. apart from that, the ep impresses with hypnotic loops and pressing arrangements without flourishes.
bringing together their eclectic musical background, both individuals behind the recently born artist duo exponent share a vision of a uniting element in dance music, which is much more defined by atmosphere and its demarcation to mainstream music than by simple genre characteristics. sometimes broken, sometimes straight - those three tracks end up with a four-to-the-floor attitude, without intending to. complex and simple at the same time, never letting go of that one hypnotic groove, which keeps us together during those special nights. 22.22. is released on freakadelle, the record label of the same-named cultural npo based in salzburg, austria.

the already 4th production of the record label freakadelle, founded in 2013, represents a very special release this time. the vinyl only release includes 6 exclusive tracks of 6 well-known personalities from 6 different nations. all of the artists have performed as live acts or djs at freaksound klubhaus in the last two and a half years. hence, the record also embodies a unique memento of a moving time in salzburg s club history and subculture. the release unites various styles of house and techno, but at the same time proves to be a lively mixture of young emerging talents as well as renowned artists.

freakadelle, the vinyl and digital record label of salzburgs cultural association freaksound starts with four extended tracks and one remix of gerald peklars album freiflug, which has been released on lamb lane records in january 2013. the uncut vinyl versions of the tracks all have a melodic and spherical touch in common and stand somewhere in between tech-house and techno. in addition, juergen vonbank delivers a moody deep house remix of the track abflug. gerald peklar is founder and head of the non-commercial electronic music club freaksound, which serves to foster the local scene and especially young musicians. freakadelle embodies the club members subcultural understanding of innovative non-commercial club music.
rekids have teamed up with detroits fit distribution and enlisted the services of motor city locals marcellus pittman and urban tribe to put the 313 sound on *working* and *taxi talk*. on the former, marcellus pittman lays down his trademark blend of mechanical yet jerky old-skool drum machine rhythms and disorientingly dissonant, tripped-out synth chords – creating a somewhat eerie atmosphere that evokes images of detroits manufacturing plants of yesteryear. on the flipside, urban tribe transform *taxi talk* into a big room monster, using rumbling synth bass, electronic bleeps and laser gun snares to transport us back in time to a dark and hazy 90s warehouse rave.
crooked man has made a huge impact this year with a handful of releases which re-interpreted the best of raw house music. release no4 is an impressively punchy and unique duo of vocal cuts, packed with attitude and sonic style.
