the second track on the other side is named >the poem<. it is a deep and thoughtful track complimented with a russian poem by arseniy tarkovskiy which was taken from a movie shot by his son and one of the greatest russian directors ever andrey tarkovskiy himself.

l_cio is a brazilian artist who brings his own flute playing to his music. he has previously collaborated with the likes of portable on the huge hit ‘surrender’ and is a live act who has held residencies at plenty of key clubs in brazil. he’s also toured all over the world from egg london to robert johnson in frankfurt and released on labels like perlon, soul clap records and d.edge. his eight-track album is an emotive affair with deep house grooves embellished with his own spine tingling instrumentals and flute.

people of earth proudly presents warren harris aka hanna. blessing us with a 4 track ep titled from the dark sky. delivering his signature bass licks and providing us with a vocal track on top of it all in last forever. hints of jazz, gospel and straight deep house throughout the record, all beautiful, uplifting and full of purpose.

congratulations to brian “javonntte” garrett, who this year celebrates two decades releasing mind-expanding deep house gold. his first 12&#8243, of 2018 sees him pop up on people of earth, a label that has previously delivered eps from such scene stalwarts as rick wade, patrice scott and kai alce. fittingly, garrett is in a nostalgic mood on opener “way back-, where his deep, dreamy and soul-flecked deep house groove is accompanied by a spoken word vocal reminiscing about the mid 1990s. elsewhere, “zodiac” wraps starbust motifs around a chunky, bass-heavy groove, “house joint” is a bumpin’ box jam rich in sturdy drum machine hits and swirling chords, and “boom house” is a slightly tougher workout that boasts beats worthy of derrick carter or dj sneak.

rick wade delivers 3 excellent tracks for people of earths sixth release. escapism is warm, distorted & moody. dark strings, chords & a thick kick with low end that gives subwoofers a work out. stand alone is classic big rick. an anytime house jam, chord changes and drum grooves. just perfect. understand, old skool breaks & sample heavy. a bit of a departure from our norm…and we love it.
