** 2019 reissue ** lcd + pcp is a massive collaboration for this release: carl craigs label planet e is set and ready to rerelease one of the tunes produced as paperclip people, throw. the a-side on this 12 vinyl features a cover of the song by james murphy and his merry band of music makers, better known as lcd soundsystem. lcd soundsystem has been using its cover of throw in live sets for some time. guest of the 2005 lcd live performance at the el rey theater received a shocking surprise. while the band was closing out the night with an extended version of yeah. somewhere around the eight or nine minute mark, bassist tyler pope began jammin on the famous groove from throw. the crowd watched in shock and awe as the band slowly, one-by-one, joined in, morphing yeah into throw seamlessly. by the time james murphy grabbed the mic and declared in full falsetto i wanna see your haaaaaaaaaaand! everyone basically unloaded on themselves. truly a classic act for a classic track! this release will be the first time the lcd studio rendition has ever been made available on wax

planet e are proud to present aw18 collection, a 3 track ep from british producer tom flynn. drawing upon a broad and learned musical understanding, aw18 collection fuses disparate strands from the worlds of fashion, club culture and sound design to forge a highly atmospheric, singular release. packard, the title of which is inspired by parties in the historic detroit power plant of the same name, establishes an unrelenting energy from the get go. a bouncing kick lays the foundations for rolling synths, unnerving vocal samples and delicate piano refrains to wander. anna is an indulgent nod to the catwalk, marching with intent amidst immersive chords and subtle melodies. the b side hosts a trippy cut full of interplanetary glitches and melancholic harmonies. drawing upon hints to the extraterrestrial, marx creates a dizzying swirl with glistening textures. carl craig was sold straight away: when tom sent me his demo of packard i knew i wanted to release it on planet e. the mix of looped electronics with soul of the piano brought me back to when i first heard the post-disco classic beyond the clouds. i can imagine the kids on the scene rockin hard to this.
detroit love are proud to present the inaugural release on their newly founded eponymous imprint – a collaborative venture from planet e and !k7 which aims to capture the essence of carl craig’s superb event series of the same name. detroit love mixed by stacey pullen is a sixteen track journey that exemplifies the diversity of the city, as well as the essence of the parties, championing both lesser known artists and familiar faces into a 74 minute mix.

after me planet e are proud to present momentum, a two-track collaboration between carl craig and argentinian live electronic collective klauss. the ep is a result of an unplanned production session at the bands buenos aires studio in february of last year. each running at over ten minutes long and brimming with tension, both tracks use analogue grooves to form a grounding for meditative loops and mind-bending sonic processes to wander.
a four track ep from slum village co-founder, former bling47 label boss and current head of the dirt tech reck label, waajeed. the detroit native has worked previously with theo parrish, mad mike banks and amp fiddler, and in 2017 held a residency at detroit love parties across the globe. ‘mother’, featuring detroit singer-songwriter steffanie christi an, is driven by an arpeggiated synth lead above shuffling percussion and heartfelt vocals, whilst ‘earth’, a collaboration with the enigmatic blaktony, takes a moodier turn with stripped back drums and syncopated keys. ‘obba’ rides a melodic bassline into the cosmos, whilst ‘frances’ offers a soothing dose of otherworldly disco funk. additional mixing on the ep was provided by planet e head carl craig
soundscapes key selling points the word icosahedrite refers to the geometric figure icosahedron, and arises from the idea that the ep is an amalgam of electronic music styles with many other aspects of traditional musical genres, like jazz or blues. metaphorically, those genres act as the multiple sides of an imaginary icosahedron. something complex yet solid that sits outside of the conventional emerges as the final result.

barbir from les points delivers a truly inspiring ep for the 14th release on concealed. the musical range is wide, spanning from detroit flavoured house music and techno, to more futuristic breakbeat stuff with hints of electro. tied together with swirling acid melodies and deep pads, mixed with uplifting beat and bass jams, all laid down over 6 quite different cuts. as a special treat, we find two collaboration with louh on the b side as well... yay!
turbo recordings is proud to present the definitive collection of remixes for planet e, tigas collaboration with hudson mohawke from this years no fantasy required lp. in fact, were so proud and excited that were going to jump straight into blow-by-blow trackdescriptions while the passions hot. 01 dense & pika remix hypercolour label boss alex jones and chris spero (aka glimpse) deliver what canresponsibly be called one of the years biggest chart-topping smash remixes. this wasalso released on counter records as part of tigas album deal, so at worst you have aspare copy for your bomb shelter. 02 danny daze polyester mix we have been trying to get this miami-based producer on the label for years, and thisremix is the closest weve gotten so far. sometimes life is about compromise, and if youget enough future-italo-electro hits like this one you may be lucky enough to forget whatyou wanted in the first place. 03 mele remix dont you ever dare say that turbo doesnt care about young uk producers. until youstop for good, well keep tapping talents like mele, whose love of brazilian beats, classichouse tracks, and trans-atlantic hip-hop shine through on this mix. but while genre checklists are great and vital and exciting and so much of the reason we do what we do, its the music thats the pudding youll find your proof in.

so … the story goes something like this: being inspired one day by 69 >desire<, vince decided to create an interpretation of it using his own unique sound. the track was done very quickly as a gimmick to send to carl craig as a mark of respect for his own track, now the track has been signed by carl for planet e and the world will now hear that very 12 minute piano and string filled beatless gimmick that is proving to be vinces most musical piece to date. its epic stuff. flipmode with >qualia< which takes off where vinces fcom material left off. deep driving hypnotic dancefloor material with an orchestra thrown in for good measure.
dimitri kneppers (1967) music career reads like an encyclopedia. a house encyclopedia. after 23 years of spinning records you could call this dj a true veteran. known for his enormous sensitivity, true feeling and mixing skills he gives you the sense you are the voyeur of an intimate act between two lovers. the music and the man. but nobody ever felt and looked so comfortable behind the decks as dj dimitri, for he brings the crowd at ease like don juan would do with women. when ecstasy is no longer just a word, but a true magical moment as the crowd, the surroundings and the music all come together in one hypnotizing state of happiness. this man knows -or should we say feels- what he is doing, not only behind the decks but also when producing. in september 2007 dimitri said goodbye to his headphones to work on a farm with mentally handicapped people. fortunately for his fans the break wasnt premanent in the middle of last year he installed a studio in his home, then this past june he returned to the decks - now he makes his planet e debut with a stunning track already tearing up dancefloors. included is the first of two remixes by carl craig. a second ep with remixes by orlando voorn and carl craig will appear in early 2011
