so gerd and philipp were due to play xoyo one saturday night and the club is 6 minutes from my studio so i suggested we go there first to make tunes for a few hours. we made 2 songs that night and one of them is ‘reach out’. gerd did the drums on my 808, philipp wrote the beautiful lead part on my obxa and i did the bass in my cs80. i added the words a couple of weeks later, they are inspired by leonard cohen’s letter to his muse marianne ihlen on her deathbed. (joe goddard) including fantastic remixes by erol alkan and osborne.

its done. the final, last and endmost volume of remixes for tuff city kids (aka philipp lauer and gerd janson) unique debut album adoldesscent are here. featuring kink, prins thomas, sascha funke, shan, justin strauss whatever/whatever project and brussels bohemian mugwump, tck originals are treated with acid, balearic rhythms, lean berlin grooves, new york city dubs, uk breaks and belgian new beats. there is something for every taste and one for each situation. the vinyl edition carries kink, prins thomas, sascha funke and the previously unreleased proto-rave rocket icebot. for the rest, hit the download button, please. thats all folks.

after the original comes the remix. or in this case three. i:cube, chinaski and aera help you refresh your memory and re-draw drawn from memory from benjamin fröhlichs second part of the rude movements series. its one single track, but every remixer has taken his very own approach and came up with a new interpretation. the iconic french producer and permanent vacation long time favourite, i:cube, transformed the original into a soul warming and heart melting late night bomb that lets the sun appear even in the darkest places. chinaski out of frankfurt, well known from his releases on live at robert johnson and uncanny valley, fuses italo disco with a john carpenter-style soundtrack aesthetic and an infectious bassline completed by a full on guitar solo in the break. aera, fresh from releasing his album on permanent vacation, is slowing down the tempo, rearranging the layers of the original and adding a bubbly and underwater atmosphere that let the dub stabs shine. three different versions that may represent different memories of one long night.

calling in the favors: marcel dettmann, roman flügel and scuba under his scb inversion disguise, take apart songs and tracks from tuff city kids debut album adoldesscent. dettmann, submisses to his new wave and em callings, keeps the song that is scared intact, but mangles it into a fast-paced pogo piece, while flügel uses his second take of rmancer (see the happy gerdy remix for reference) to push it into the k-lauer abyss, before scb inversion tones down the rockism of nordo and makes it inherently his own. to complete the picture, you get thorarium by tck themselves. a previously unreleased track that is basically a remix of a previously unreleased track

while red axes s ode to the sun is still running strong one and a half years after its release (it even made it into last year s top 50 at resident advisor), here comes the heavyweight remix package: german wunderkind konstantin sibold is hitchhiking the original into afro rave territories with vodoo percussions and a hauting bassline that will be hard to escape from. fango from the italian degustibis family continues his string of strong remixes as he turns the original into a rough beat version just to drop the melody in the break for maximum dancefloor mayhem. and last but not least the axes themselves come up with a tropical house version that works any time any place. and thus the sun continues to shine.

here comes argoman, the antihero of disco music. inspired by the 1960s b movie super hero argoman, the name literally means lazy man, however its also a combination of three italian producers names, who started the project about one year ago. the track chimicalissimo merges the vibrant rhythms of disco with the emotional approach of modern electronic music. its a peak-time dancefloor banger completely produced with analog synths and drum machines. the tune is a proper voyage between syncopated rhythms and heavy basslines soaked with synth melodies that often recall idm progressions. the dub version gives more space to a melancholic piano melody that culminates through analog arpeggios to an unstoppable build. black spuma remix finally turns the track into a slow burning disco monster.

remixers getting remixed! the first batch of interpretations for tc’s 2016 debut album adoldesscent arrives with a trio of artists above the ordinary. while tensnake and joe goddard take care of tell me (the former delivers one of his peaking trademark tearjerkers, while the later one is basically meditating on himself), gifted &blessed roman flügel turns the proto-rave of r-mancer into a joyful ride through post-house that not only will make gerdy happy. one record for every turntable.

nach seinem gelungenen beitrag auf der letzten -if this is house i want my money back drei--compilation, folgt nun der erste 12- release des belgischen produzenten locked groove auf permanent vacation. die beiden stücke -thesseus- und -meditations in an emergency- überzeugen erneut durch locked grooves elegant reduzierten wie düsteren ansatz, house und techno auf gekonnte weise zu vereinen. zu -meditations in an emergency- gibt es noch einen remix des italienischen produzenten clockwork, der das original in eine vertrackte techno-version aus den frühen 90igern verwandelt.

dollkraut aus amsterdam ist ein analog-klangzauberer mit einer vorliebe für space age platten der 70er jahre. für die 12- auf permanent vacation hat er zwei düster-schöne electrostücke produziert, zusätzlich gibt es noch einen magischen remix von invisible conga people aus new york.
