scenario founder sebo k drops his debut lp - a seven track mini-album - entitled ‘patience’ on rekids in november.
reflecting on 15 years as a producer, sebo k has an admirable discography but recent years have been particularly exciting. the german producer’s continual rise includes recent releases on bass culture, robsoul recordings and tsuba, whilst his vinyl-only label scenario has been putting out wax featuring ian pooley, dj honesty, jus ed, dan curtin, dj deep and diego krause. having cemented a reputation for consistently quality house music, sebo k’s debut on rekids exhibits a refreshing sound from the established artist.

the invisible are releasing a special remix ep featuring reworked tracks from their critically acclaimed album ‘patience’. released via ninja tune, ‘patience’ saw the mercury prize nominees demonstrate their more uplifting side, giving the listener a sense of the band’s “joy and gratitude” for being alive, with features from anna calvi, sam shepherd (floating points), connan mockasin and rosie lowe.
this new ep shows 4 tracks from the lp in a different light. “love me again” featuring anna calvi is remixed twice, first by london based, rhythm section member, chaos in the cbd and second by fellow rhythm section associate, fyi chris. warp records duo darkstar provide a hypnotic remix of ‘so well’ and finally milionhands music label boss, tee mango steps up for his “summer daze revision” of “k town sunset” featuring connan mockasin.

matt obrien first came to our attention in 2005 with his off-key industries releases hidden high and serotone, which would later get a license on rekids. his first contribution for curle was back in 2007 when he remixed efdemins acid bells. in 2010 he made up the flipside to dozzy & van hoesens track on curle 024. after starting over in 2011, were proud to welcome matt back on curle for his second full ep. dont forget your scuba glasses, its deep!

optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didnt seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics.

in its original incarnation, shit robots -losing my patience- – a choice cut from 2010s from the cradle to the rave — strikes a balance between iciness and warmth, with hot chip frontman alexis taylors soulful vocals melting the tracks frosty synthlines. now, hot chip and unabombers remix the track and redefine its feel. hot chips new take on the single mystifies the original with deeply cut grooves, squelching bass and taylors heartbreaking, trilling vocals, pushed to lonesome front and center. the whole procession builds to a climax of chiming keys, striking percussion and synth melodies that corkscrew firmly into your head. the uks unabombers – the dj duo of luke cowdrey and justin crawford – take a cosmic approach, laying down synths that stretch toward infinity and holding off on vocals till near the songs midpoint. the dub remix gains traction and energy in its latter stages, with a heady mix of piercing synth squeals and taylors vocalizations set on repeat, like a mantra urging party goers to the dancefloor
