following his recent collaborations with ai records, electronique.it, and icon of desire, passenger finally comes back to eclipsemusic to release a new 12 vinyl record, titled chord abuse ep. the release takes off with solar flare, one of passengers most airy, housey and positive works till now, with its melodic sequence and uplifting atmosphere. on the same side of the 12 inch, surface debris de-construct the classic techno elements to build an abstract, moody, hyper-cynetic slice of futuristic techno. on side b solar flare gets then a special remix treatment by stephen brown, one of the most personal and notable european techno producers: the result is a tight, swinging rework of tiny slices of the original, turning the track into a classic techno builder..

following on from the furious 601 release we revisit the aquasky single and ask some mates of ours to go in on the remix tip and try and add some of their own bass induced mayhem and here, ladies and gentlemen, is the end result. not for the faint hearted or those of an uneasy disposition.

continuing on the passenger 140 bass quest we have a new signing to the label but certainly not new to the scene by any means! 601 has been bashing out the breakbeat / jungle hybrid for a while now and is one reason why passenger and label owners aquasky are revitalised by the scene.

on this release we have two goddesses of drum & bass, the queens of the jungle ... diane charlemagne (goldie >inner city life< / high contrast - >if we ever<) and ladyroller (ez rollers >tough at the top / walk this land<) and what an honour to have worked with them both. still as much talent now as back in the day.

italian based eclipsemusics fourth outing comes with a serious release courtesy of passenger, talented artist whose productions can be heard on night drive music, paul macs sula muse, logos recordings and echoplexs soleil. this new 12 inch confirms his interest in the deepest and more underground side of detroit techno. >black varian< was the highlight of his digital-only release on radiance records back in 2008. eclipsemusics label manager instantly fell in love with it, and now, improved and remastered by aaron-carl (wallshaker, detroit), black varian finally lands on vinyl. with its evolving and ear-catching sweet strings, its delayed cascades of cymbals and pianos, swinging synth lines and subtle bassline, this is already a little new classic for the label, crossing the borders between detroit techno and deep, groovy house. the release is completed by two strong remixes: paul mac strips down the original and builds a dancefloor number keeping a few catching elements for massive impact. just out on connaisseur with her new album, estroe takes the track on an emotional ride creating new harmonic vibes while keeping the deepness intact.

mikkel metal aka mikkel meldgaard is back on echocord with a new powerfull ep. after the latest succesfull full length album with tikiman here comes the next ep on >passenger ep< mikkel metal tries explores new facets of his sound and take a detour from the dub-technom, thats his usual trademark. while obviously still retaining a metal-signature, theres an opening towards a more raw dirty detroit sound here, thats clearly new to his production. opening track >further< is slow tough track with a heavy kickdrum and simple theme. in its austerity it might actually remind one of very early metal productions like >eight< from echocord 01. remaing tracks >no stars today< and >i dream< both build on a dirty simple groove and layers synths and distorted themes on top.
