this is a 1 off collaborative ep between sonic wizard my panda shall fly and analogue disciple benjamin jackson. mpsf has been on the scene a while, with releases on dam mantle’s growing records & wichita. benjamin jackson is a relative newcomer, having only self-released last year through his own label, ‘thanqu’. the pair recorded the bulk of the ep collaboratively without ever having met. the ep is rounded off by remixes from -no pain in pop’s critically aclaimed patten -r & s’s hyped new signings cloud boat -’my panda shall fly’s material is groundbreaking’

every so often a new artist on the dumb unit roster steps up and bats one out of the park. case in point, our man from essen : tim querengaesser: aka pherox. the panthers walk ep is an expressive and bombastic ode to a night that goes boom! sultry lyrics voiced by tim himself and guest lee curtiss sit firmly over top of tims excellant and chugging under groove. the panthers walk is an exciting slab of music for any dj and one that will certainly bring pherox and his brand of funk into a more deserving light.

tuccillo joins delusions of grandeur for their forth release turning in two tracks of funk injected house that will work wonders on the dancefloor. hot from his releases with willie graff on freerange, circus company, drumpoet and liebe*detail, the ibizan producer delivers once again with a release that will put him firmly on the hype list for 2009. panorama is one of those tracks that will be played by djs right across the board and creates a killer vibe whether its at its original tempo of 118 or pitched right up for peak time action. the rolling beats, looped up guitar hit and siren synths create a mighty track that treads a familiar path but does so in such style that we challenge you not to get bitten by the bug. taken things in an altogether deeper, darker and more twisted direction with have switzerlands finest kalabrese taking care of the remix. his very capable hands and ears, not to mention vocal skills, have resulted in a warped, acidified excursion full of bottom end pressure and brilliant percussion. a real trip this one. finally, on the flip, we have tuccillos this time, taking things back into house territory with a funk filled workout that utilizes a pitched down vocal and horn stabs to great effect. that doesnt sound great on paper we know, but give it a listen cos it works a treat.
