born in sidi bel abbess, algeria, now living in istanbul, el mahdy jr. is a rising voice in sample based global electronic music. his sonic experiments have grown into a collection of disciplined, well timed musical gestures that confound the expectations of any single genre. splicing devotional music into a blunted blend of half time bass and mystic sound. familiar in its bass weight and its global melt, but completely new and enveloping in its fragility and poise.

sona elango, as the multi-talented elaquent, captures a catalogue of experiences and feelings that span time zones from over the better part of 2016. elaquent has created a reflective sound weaving themes of travel and personal growth into the core of his music. worst case scenario is a record with roots in europe and japan, inspired by moments of reflection in hostels, airports, and trains.

esteemed composer piero umiliani released scores of music in his lifetime from the famous to the obscure, but his forays into jazz continue to be a delight for diggers the world over. here galaxy present storia e prehistoria, recorded under his alias rovi and originally released in 1972. its a stirring collection of music that touches on soundtrack themes throughout, capturing the sound of the era impeccably while sporting umilianis inimitable touch in the same breath. the album is full of sumptuous orchestrations of brass, keys, harp and more besides, each piece loaded with romance and cool as could only come from italy.

omar santis makes a very welcome return to karakul with the >needs ep<- since his fantastic atdld joint ep kickstarted karakul in the tall-end of 2014 the stockholm based chilean put out the well-received greatest hits 12 inch on swedish label svedjebruk last year. hes obviously been a busy man as he has now delivered his second karakaul record, the needs ep and were very grateful
