next up on nang it is time for a slice of spot-on male vocal house and disco. liverpool based thomas lang made some fine albums in the 80s and 90s with john murphy (who went on to carve a highly successful career in movie tracks) and david hughes. somewhere in between that and a string of recent albums (“torch songs” and “the german alphabet”) he also managed to buy one of the finest recording studios in north west england, parr street studios (the “abbey road of the north”). we are pleased here at nang to see a new avenue turned in tom’s life, his first foray into the dance world. “scared” was written with late liverpool songwriter john uriel quite some time ago. it first emerged as a b-side to tom’s comeback single “august day” in 2011. here at nang we always loved the smooth and sophisticated vocal and melody. when tom suggested some remixes we were on board.

we are proud to present sare s fourth album softmachine. it is a ten track synthesizer epic which takes us through multiple musical flavors of electronica, italo, dancefloor, disco and smooth soul pop. all threads are neatly bound up and unified by the common principles of smooth electronics, solid melody and slick song-writing. the album opens with the intro track and scene setter, dreamachine. it is a dystopian synth algorithm which is one part aural mindscape, one part electronic opus and one part sci-fi soundtrack. a perfect scene setter. everybody freak out bursts open the flood gates with a tide of funky swing, brash disco swagger and catchy lead lines. softmachine shows sare s finely honed song writing prowess with its lazy grooves, 80s sparkling synths and meandering robotized main vocal line. next the dancefloor calls with a peak-time disco vocal groover like you wanna do. it features a vocal from vaarka delivering a fine performance. multi-layered guitars, perky bass guitar and a pulsing groove power this track along. here comes that sound carries on the dancefloor vocal vein with its 4-4 beats, driving bass and sweet strings sitting perfectly alongside a multi vocalled chorused vocal from barbara grabar, kristina strasek and vanja dizdarevic. on the flipside things open with riot, sawtoothy synth waves and darting keyboard lines lead the way in this sci-fi sound track with a core of antagonism at its core. science of the beat follows with its stabby synth bass, rolling stabs and vocodered main lines. music and lies layers in sweet synth pads, melancholy meanderings and just a touch of forlorn sadness into its melodies. to round things off no chance to dance digs deep into the chic vibes with its percussive chop-guitar, on-the-beat bass guitar and swinging hand-clap disco beats. the album closes with the painfully optimistic perpetual rise, a metropolis meets vangelis like analog synthesizer masterclass

it is time for the nang and rayko worlds to collide once more. the awesome madrid-based dj and producer is back with his second album on nang. as ever the grooves are wide, the beats are large and the musical elements ooze funk and nu disco sheen. thing open up with the title track and recent single no stopping. the track features the fine vocals from tania haroshka and it is a powerhouse of synth disco, electronic groove with real bass guitar and darting guitars giving it just a tint of miami vice sheen. 2016 single crazy is up next with it s catchy hooks and counter melodies. it comes with just the right amount of good-time groove to bring a smile to any face. things tone down robot life which is a creeping synth fest with wandering grooves and chunky drums. danielle moore features with a fine vocal on a pure rayko style classic cosmic pirate. muscular basses and darting guitars being deployed to maximum effect. ocarina of time is next with its layered complexity and stabby synth bass notes. tania haroshika returns for the final trio of tunes on the album. her fine vocals melding effortlessly with the slick production from our hero. first up is hot which builds the music slowly adding layers of multi tracked guitars and real bass before breaking forth into song. u sneaks in from the leftfield with its quirky strings and arpegiated synth-clavi lines. the album closes with the (slightly) melancholic and pensive groover space boat. tania adding a brooding vocal over a pulsating juno style bassline. a fine effort from our madrid based hero who once again shows everyone what this top-of-his-game dj-producer can do with some guitars and keyboards.

next up on our album manoeuvres we head back up to sheffield. hiem are back with their 3rd album, the galactic cornucopia that is hotspace. it is a fine follow up to the 2013 escape from division street released here on nang. hiem consist of dynamic duo of nick eastwood & bozzwell (he was the live vocalist for -the all seeing i- who scored a worldwide hit with the beat goes on in 1998). we have always thought of hiem as one part grown-up dance pop, one part fine 80 s tinged songs and one part slightly weird and quirky. the third album doesn t disappoint managing to cram all those descriptions (and more) across ten fine songs.

next up on nang we are pleased to bring a really positive 3 year association with west country, uk based collective situation to a fruitful crescendo. after 4 singles, numerous remixes and a couple of beach disco mixes we are extremely proud to present the sister release “revisions” to the debut album from situation “visions”. this vinyl release features the remix highlights of the situation album and some brand new exclusive remixes to boot.

here at nang towers we are really happy to have back slovenian talent sare havlicek, without any doubt one of our favourite producers, and to present you all his latest creation *movies for lovers*. sometimes we like to try something a bit different. often the process of creating an album can be a not-so-simple task: which tracks are the singles? which is the breather track? do we have ten songs? have we covered all the bases? the list goes on. sometimes the answer is to throw convention out the window and just try to harness a burst of energy and get it down on eighteen minutes-a-side of vinyl. we gave sare the following brief: lock yourself in a studio for four weeks and come up with a piece of cohesive work. abandon the formulas, do some experimenting and (most importantly) try some things you wouldnt normally do. *movies for lovers* is the result of that session and encapsulates the feeling of the journey sare embarked on to bring you this album.

hiem, who created the stunning *2.a.m* single with the human leagues phil oakey earlier this year on nang, returns with another collaboration of equal measure, this time with the uks one and only roots manuva.

it has been a long time coming, but we have finally got rayko to release a small collection of his infectious creations with us. he first cropped up on nang with his distinctive addition to volume 3 of our array series which picking up the record of the month accolade in mixmag and went down a storm at the nang parties. >in the cave< is a two track ep with an edit from ohm fat, acting as a prelude to an album due out next year.

sare havlicek is back on nang following the release of his second full-length album <escape machine< back in june. this time it is a lean selection of variations and edits of the his track >diamondback<, a 2-part nu-disco opus laden with real strings and serious groove. parts 1 & 2 were included on >escape machine<, this ep sets out to expand on these ideas and unravel the mystery of parts 3, 4 & 5.

here we go again! the heels of love strike gold once again with their new single >flight 707< on nang. it arrives accompanied by a strong brace of remixes from jadoo, billy bogus, and braking dogs. boom!

as a follow up to the last years >radio anatomy< we are excited to present the >last day here ep< by brioski. it is a stellar effort from the talented italian and we are all feeling that he has really come into his own with this one. brioskis inspiration spans hiphop, funk, soul, disco, chicago house & techno, edging towards balearic / psychedelic atmospheres with deep percussive roots and old-school tendencies. combine this with some italian originality and a love for vintage gear and you are halfway there.

so, nang fans, its finally here: the long awaited album by slovenias own sare havlicek, and its a beauty if we say so ourselves! the album, titled >escape machine<, is a direct progression from his most recent run of 12 inches on nang, amalgamating everything we know and love, and a lot, lot more. expect live orchestral sequences, serious analogue heat and the finest vocal arrangements. this is the real deal!

it is that time of the year again for a catch up on all that has been going on at nang towers. for the third instalment of our array series we are chuffed to present a few recent hits, a few future hits and some great tunes we just had to include. the sampler 12 inch takes the more vinyl friendly bits and crams them all onto one cool vinyl.

next up on nang we-re honoured to introduce -2am- the new ep by sheffield scenester producers hiem along with another of the cities finest fellows- phil oakey of the human league. the original track is a synth pop powerhouse about those twilight club nights that you never wanted to end- complete with a epic guitar solo- computer blips and glistening synth rushes. oakey is as accomplished as ever- bringing his signature tones to full effect and it-s nothing short of sensational. to accompany- we-ve enlisted the skills of four producers to give us some cracking remixes. fernando and toomy disco are first up- and they ramp up the tempo and vibe for a loose -n- live rework that-s perfect for the dance floor. hiem themselves give it a go with his -1984 rework- bringing 80-s power drums- van halen solos and some atmospheric subtleties to the table. nang-s italian uber-cool-cat brioski steps up next giving us the italian angle with a brilliant walking bassline and luscious wide mix. the heels of love bring us frivolous percussion and stomping disco beats layered between emosh pads and slick keys. ace. to finish- our good friends free school take things down a notch for a beautiful leftfield excursion that only they could pull off.

next up on nang, we have the long awaited full-length from nu-disco hero and synth aficionado, andy meecham. the release sees meecham step away from his revered emperor machine monkier to create something conceptual and truly visceral, yet still retaining those signature grooves and rich tones we all know and love. the aptly titled monophonic volume 1 is a synth purists dream. each track has been crafted on a single classic synthesizer (and named after it!), giving each piece its own identity and sense of time and place, referencing landmark moments in the history of music technology from the east and west

russian cool cat sportloto (aka andrey rublev) is making quite a name for himself in the remix realm. he comes from the western urals and makes some of the most splendid electronic music around.the title track >will i< started out as an instrumental on our sister labels tirk03 sampler.after bags of attention and plaudits we decided to nudge things into vocal-drive and add a nifty vocal.michelle bee ably assists with a smouldering and sultry tones. if chord movements and darting electronic lines and arpeggios are your thing then you will love the original.on the remix tip fabrizio mamarella (1/3 of clap rules and bearfunk big dog) chips in with the remix.he takes the organic analog route and trims things down nicely for the dance floor.to round off the package and give an enticing glimpse into the cool production skills of andrey,weve also included the track metamorphosis.andrey is busy at work on his debut album for nang as we speak!stay tuned.

nang powerhouse sare havlicek bursts back into the synth-scape once more with the first track from his second nang album. sare is a firm favourite here in nang towers and the mercurial, slovenian dynamo has hardly stopped for breath since his last releases on nang (a well deserved new masters comp, a co-mix credit on beach disco and also as part of the transatlantic disco alliance ep). to remix vibe on you nang have called in the talents of fellow adriatic funkster ilija rudman, who places his seal-of-authority on the sonics and gets brassed up. uk based head of bear funk stevie kotey pairs up with this lightning-fingered-keyboard neighbour manestar to create a cool cross between haddaway & ten city. sare contributes an instrumental and a slowed down, pitch-bent, 115 bpm version. his slyly retiled nothing you can do version jumps forward 4 years to 1985, sounding like a long lost stock-aitken and waterman extended 12 dance cut. stay tuned for sare album number 2 later in the year. weve heard it.. its a goodie.

the title track >radio anatomy< is a synth-laden italo monster, serious dance-floor material. detuned pads fizz under an arp and walking bass, caving in to a tear-away synth lead that pumps the tune into overdrive. the groove has a pace to it and sits on top of the beat and all surrounding articulation and effects keep things interesting.
on the flip we have got a serious remix from none other than emperor machine. this guy has been unstoppable in the remix department for some time, and it doesnt look like he will be faltering anytime soon! we are initiated with brioskis fantastic original bass and pad sequence, but in typical e.m. fashion the build up is sustained and full of suspense. haunting vocal chants ensue before the bass drops and the funk kicks in. what a drop! the switches are clever, the instrumentation is solid and the vibe is out of this world. brioski - >radio anatomy is an unforgiving italo dance-floor release, with help from one of nangs finer contributors.

after a handful of smashing remixes and compilation features on nang records, lusty zanzibar returns to the fold with a cracking solo effort named the >the feeling ep.< title track is a spaced out exercise in immersive square-wave programming, reminiscent of the pre-internet computer gaming age when colours were 8-bit and vivid, and soundtracks were hyper-colour opuses. the complex synth work is underpinned by a driving beat with ethereal vocal wisps and crystalline pads. nice. the first of three remixes for >the feeling< comes from ilya santana, with his >celestial version<, and celestial it is indeed! a picturesque scene is set, the rhythm is wound back and a super laid back vibe allows the vocal line >remember how you are feeling< to sit more purposefully in the mix, alongside the tip-toeing bass line and often euphoric chords. up next comes the max essa dub version, introducing some arp-synth subtleties, replacing the main vocal hook to great effect. to finish we have a mix from fear of theydon who brings a touch of arpeggiated femininity and tasteful woodblock percussion to the table. its a fulfilling yet sultry up-beat journey.

proper heat slid onto the nangsphere last year with their nifty >we are ready< ep. they certainly were… good reception all around and some fine plaudits. fast forward on 6 months and we are really pleased that the follow up >move ep< hits the streets. proper heat are from lithuania and are made up of martin virgin, saxtone and some fine vocals from karolis ramoska. laid-back, accessible disco house is the order of the day with this ep. we have two finely voiced tracks. dulcet tones and catchy songs abound with karolis doing a fine job in the voice department. lead track >the move” is mid tempo groover. mixes from nang label new-long-found-friend james bright and label stalwart (and supertop photographer) ichisan… you are always a subject when you are in the same room as this guy…. snap snap snap. james grooves it up with tight synthy bass and ichisan gets electronic and rolling. you can check out the video for >the move< on youtube and our home page too. the equally able >get ready< also makes a strerling appearance on the ep. another fine disco groovoid song. all in all the package overflows with extra dubs and instrumentals. bountiful disco abounds.

nang golden-child sare havlicek and bostonian chaz bronz make up the menacingly titled >transatlantic disco alliance<. no, it is not a military organization designed to perpetuate neo-imperialst ideals - its a big ol love-in for 80s tinged soulful disco tunes!

set time-dials to 2011 and engage. here we have two slick, italian producers bottin and rodion, they both may have (professionally) lost their first name, but they sure both make up for that with their italian style and extra analog-burbleness. their original vocoder nugget and dub both feature on the vinyl. for remix action we teleport over to argentina where toomy disco (a pretty spacey name already) delivers us some remix action. slick grooves, flowing bass guitar and more shine than a sparkly new saturn 5.
unless an intergalactic born space-plague fuses our brains back to reality, expect more cosmic lunacy in 2012. get your submissions in now producers.

gravitating into the nang tractor-beam next is a brand new artist, no logo. for big dogs pete gooding and steve miller to consider us for putting out their eclectic project is an honour indeed. ibiza and london based pete gooding is a dj tour-de-force and his pairing with one of chill outs leading lights steve miller (afterlife, lux, northern lights etc) was always gonna be an interesting one. the dancefloor acumen of pete with the downtempo-grooves and all around musicality from steve.

following up their brazen debut on nang in 2010 ibiza lord, pete gooding and chill capitano chris coco return with their follow up. this time they have enlisted the silky vocals of peter coyle, best known as the voice of liverpool based lotus eaters who made the amazing >first picture of you< in the early 80s. >believe< turns down the bpm quotient a few notches and sets the destinations for balearic.

we are pleased to announce that one of our favourite producers justus köhncke has finally given in to the constant barrage of requests to work with us. yes, welcome to the rank of nang cosmonauts justus. he has kindly agreed to work on a new artist album for us for release in late 2011 / 2012 but in the time being we just had to pop the mans cherry and get some köhncke-tunage released on nang.
first up is an ep of two brand new compositions. fussmachine and renewal. we have also included a remix and wrapped it all into the fussmachine ep.

milan based heels of love is made up of luca saponaro (from krautrock-disco hybrids the love supreme) and michele tessadri (aka fratelli riviera). the pair of them create incredible 80s-tinged, earthy, synthesized music with healthy dose of real instruments. after some nifty releases on mad on the moon and under the shade labels we are pleased to welcome them to the nang family. with an lp poised to drop later in the year, the welcome first dose is the train >chain gang<.
the track features the dulcet (and ever growing in confidence) vocals of tokyo based max essa. the original is a pacey combination of maxs devoesque song, driving drums and the wide-as analog bass synth from the italian duo. are we men? we certainly are.

as nang completes its first two years on the planet things are going pretty well. we are certainly not getting rich in financial terms but the love of the music and plaudits are warming our souls to the core. along the way we have also managed to work with some amazing artists and introduce some mighty-fine new ones to the world so it is with great pleasure that we bring you the 2nd installment of our >array< series. it is a stock-take of the best nang tunes from the past year, some previews on future hits and some tracks we just had to release!

three quality disco cuts from the ever reliable nang label!!

the most favourite of italian producers, bottin, returns with an old project. tinpong is a collaboration between bottin and swiss singer joy freypong. these tasty masters were just gathering dust on an old hard disc in venice but when we heard them we just had to get these gems out there.
the first of the tinpong material is a cover version of a duran duran classic. set dials to 1982, >new religion< is of course one of the standout tracks from the classic >rio< album.

next up on nang we get tooled up with our disco pick-axe to mine one of the most authentic italo vaults, that of once-forgotten-but-now-hero-again beppe loda. having begun djing in brescia aged 16, loda was resident at gambaras soon to be legendary typhoon club from 1980 until the club closed in the same year as the paradise garage, a year before acid house officially began in 1987.

we re not sure if theres been a whole lot of russian vocal led synthy disco around of late / ever, but we definitely like the idea of it. and so we have the first release on the brand new tirk affiliated label nang. d pulses sound is a sonic cocktail that represents the different flavours of its ingredients. great for dancing, as well as regular home listening, making love or preferably cooking. you can call it russian house, full of spirit, soul and its own philosophy. now on to the tunes. the foto mix of more combines cold robo synth bass and stripped back rhythms with the haunting tale of love, loss and the ultimate fulitility of existence (probably). the original mix lives up to the live jam side to the d pulse manifesto with organic funk and jazzy chops leading the way. fellow russian alcos coolkas carries on where his new work on tirk left off, with simple but sparkling and sophisticated electronics working away with snippets of the vocal to mesmerising effect. the package rounds off with the spacey, warm, instrumental highway to saturn. nang has launched!

love and money front man james grant has collaborated with producer gordy goudie to form the korvids, releasing a dance album. for the older generation who might want to bust a move once more in honour of their younger selves. james says, i wanted to be someone else for a while. sound different. write different. it can be dreary being me all the time..i sing most of my vocals on the record in falsetto, which, as we know, is the international language of disco. the korvids marry their love of disco and 70 s funk with influences such as deodato, massive attack, miles and anything else that takes their fancy. after the success of their debut release beach coma, which was picked up by sirius us radio and remixed by balaeric legend jose padilla, the duo released bad faith, a beauteous cut of late 70 s disco remixed by love & money and steely dan s producer gary katz. james was the front man for love and money, everyone s favourite band from the 1980 s who should have been massive but somehow werent. the other half of the korvids, gordy goudie, is also no stranger to the business having produced simple minds and playing bass and guitar for the primevals and echo and the bunnymen.

its springtime again. so that means its time for our yearly array compilation. it is a swell round up of the hits from the past year, some special new gems and a few of our upcoming top tracks.
