one of the early big records in the uk that preceded the acid house mania that followed in 1988 and mr. lee s first in a string of releases on trax. adonis recalls bumping into mr. lee in the street: what s up with you, adonis? and i said, oh man, i got a record out. i m doin house music and makin money at it. the next time i saw him, he was sayin , hey man, i got a record out too! i can t forget features a more spoken word delivery in comparison to his later productions where he d retooled and become a rapper (of sorts).

mexican duo 4004 and sebastian vorhaus aka soul of hex have had a great few years under their various monikers with releases for dirt crew, vicario ltd and of course cvmr where they return to here following their debut ‘lip reading’. this inaugural release was accompanied by remixes from larry heard and put soul of hex on the map for the duo, with support coming from the likes of dj sneak, art department, sebo k, breach, shadow child and huxley to name but a few.

sunday music goes deeper and depper with this fantastic album release. it reflects the love of label owner henrik schwarz for jazz, contemporary and chamber music. when norwegians electro-jazz pioneer bugge wesseltoft and henrik schwarz (!k7/ innervisions) produced their collaboration duo, it was clear that their synergy was both unique within, and revitalizing to, the whole genre of electro-acoustic beat-based improvisation.

greek producers lee burton and mr. statik are already familiar to fans of groove-inducing, deep minimal house, creating intricately woven tracks that spark dancefloors and neurotransmitters in equal measure.

this is what we call european union. a greek (mr.statik / bpitch) and two italian guys (cosmic cowboys / musik gewinnt freunde) team up for doing this record on the german rotary cocktail label and a french girl (molly / rex club, rekids) and a german gentleman (marc schneider / circus company) are doing great remixes of it. if the politicans would deliver such a good work there would be no problems around!

terry lee brown junior is back on plastic city with his new 3 track single >baltimore<. here we have two great remixes and one original dub version. on the a-side is the pumping bas amro remix. its a little bit techy and would rock every dancefloor at the maintime! the b1-track is the aki bergen remix and it sounds more minimal than the other ones. also we have here more elements from the original included! for the last is the b2-track. its the dub mix of the original with less vocals and a straighter beat programming. the productions are very accurate, the interplay of moods, sounds and emotions is functional and sexy, very concidered and perfectly restaged. terry lee brown junior make the next step right back into the clubs. perfect!

it would be very tough to dispute the phrases >good things come to those who wait< or >less is more< when talking about the impeccable standard of sebo ks productions over the years. looking back at the very first mobilee too hot, and other hit releases such as diva and spirits, as well as a collection of remixes on some of the most respected labels – he is given name in any serious house music collectors bag and now we have another wax to add! mr. duke is nothing short of a summer anthem…opening with a delicately constructed rhythm pattern that eventually makes way for beautiful synths that build and lift your hands in the air with them. it warms you up just as the sun does, re-appearing from behind a cloud and covering your body in its rays. summer and sebo k – the perfect combination.
