with 2018 marking a quarter of a century for positiva being at the summit of the dance industry, the label have enlisted the work of both paul morrell, and latroit, to sprinkle modern magic on the timeless record. british producer and xxl resident dj paul morrell laces his own mix with euphoric, high-tempo chords and a floorfilling breakdown, a stark contrast to the deeper, gritty interpretation offered by 2018 grammy award winning american producer and composer, latroit, who added: - as the rush comes was obviously one of the stand-out tracks of the decade, and it was amazing to get my hands on that vocal. i ve also known dave dresden (one third of motorcycle) for years before this came out and it was great to reconnect and finally work with him creatively after all this time. the vinyl features 3 remixes of as the rush comes by latroit, paul morrell and dash berlin.

this is a great sophomore effort by this scottish outfit. the singer has a unique semi-quavering voice with a melodramatic quality that suits the music and would equally suit him on stage in a musical. some songs are aggressive but with a dark hue. opening cut -a leaving song- finds sutherland carving his way through jangly and buzzing guitars set to a skittery beat with a touch of the theatrical. closing is -home-, a forlorn ballad with sutherland delicately pleading -please let me come home-, elegiac and sweet.

we’re really excited about this unusual ep from the unusually talented photomachine, his first outing on wicked bass. ‘black motorcycle’ a dark but deep number, measuredly working its way down into to a solid groove before it lifts its eyes skyward for a breakdown made up of delicate synthwork. ‘good news…bad dope’ is a more skittish cut, with its percussive elements laying low in the mix, whilst circling synths provide a menacing mood that juxtaposes itself with a well-placed vocal sample.

silence in metropolis aims to act as a hub for new artists breaking through, artists who mine a forward thinking vein of deep house, techno and the many shades in between. for their 4th release they turn to uk talent michael mclardy for two original tracks and two remixes, one from p lopez and one from evren ulusoy.

babylon by car is entirely in this ambiguity, between nostalgia and modernity, between pop and post-punk, electronic music and rock, past and future – its where kraftwerks >men-machines< celebrated an endless future with obedient machines. botox summons the ghosts of the century, from cybotron to wire, from fad gadget to john carpenter, to give birth to greatly personal music and, in all honesty, a rather unique sound in french electronic music. botox doesnt swagger to keep their motors running. both melodic and fierce, >babylon by car< comes as it is. and its probably the best way to take it in

bot ox is one of many side projects for french label owner and music tastemaker cosmo vitelli, in partnership with julien briffaz (better known as one half of tekel). their last single >crashed cadillac< was one of the highlights from i m a cliches moments of a crisis compilation from earlier this year. this latest effort is a real slow burner, with the misty voice of anna jean flowing over top of lo-fi melodies and blistering rhythms. weve also heard the flip side for the release – >bearded lady motorcycle show< – which is a more aggressive electro growler.
