meant are launching a series of roving travelogues and you’ve got a sonic first class ticket. travel tales gives us an opportunity to celebrate a dj’s unique nomadic lifestyle, and haphazard creative opportunities (and friendships!) that arise along the way. meant’s series highlights producers and takes in their various collaborative creations written on the road. first up, label boss remain whose roadmap excursion from paris to sao paulo teams him up with brazilian techno stalwart clickbox, creating two crisp, restrained, tech workouts alongside two vividly contrasting remixes from swayzak and danton eeprom.

including instrumentation from dave harrington of darkside contributing electric guitar, alluring vocals by lorraine nicholson for on & on and dan whitford of cut copy fame, who helped record the synths.

behind the next release on meant records are italian duo boot & tax, a relatively new pairing made up of claudio brioschi and cristiancroce. here they serve up three great originals baced with a stellar remix from alien alien. before now, boot & tax have released two extremely well received eps on jd twitchs optimo trax and have also recently had their music licensed to erol alkans fabric live 77, so the pair are really on the up.

bleeping sauce is the new live band project from esteemed minus and items&things duo click box who have teamed up with the highly talented eli iwasa & marcos taga. presented here is a new ep from them on meant that showcases their dynamic sound, it comes with three original tracks and a remix by remote.

spaniard javi redondo makes an appearance on the superb meant label with a new offering of tracks that come complete with remixes from bohemian groove and get a room.

parisian label meant turns to hugo sanchez and rodion in their alien alien guise, a little known side project that has released on their own label roccodisco and that has also featured on get physical back in 2012. the two originals from alien alien come with remixes by rodion in solo mode, plus red axes.

french label meant serve up another ep from their fast rising montreal based duo vosper. made up of edouard le and christopher byron, the pair excels in analogue funk, have also released on throne of blood and here get remixed by items & things man marc houle. taking some of their cues from the likes of drexcyia and mark bell, the duo have a sound somewhere between darkened techno and physical ebm.

the french duo of eric guillanton and seb fouble are remote, a pair charged with serving up the next release on the ever-excellent meant label. this twosome has been active for more than a decade now, releasing lps and eps on labels like kill the dj, zone and fondation as well of course meant to which they return now two years after their label debut. here they serve up two new ghetto tinged, darkened electro tracks that come complete with remixes from fairmont and headman.

the production outfit of daniel varga, michael kuebler and sascha hedgehog, earned their dance music stripes around the turn of the millennium with a series of strong releases, most notably on frankfurt-based techno institution playhouse. describing their musical aesthetic as cabaret-independent-house, the act forged a distinct sound that combines icy minimal structures with catchy euro-girl vocals, anglo-french funk antics and a dash of dancefloor melancholy. this summer, rework return to the fray with a two-sided affair for paris-based meant records that shows they have not lost the electric energy that characterised their earlier work.

“in the meantime” is the result of the partnership between giorgio gigli and bichord. after the release of his album “the right place where not to be” in 2015, the roman producer finds a magical conjunction with the duo bichord that leads to six wonderful tracks riding through a long ambient-techno hallway.
