martin gore, gründungsmitglied und songwriter von depeche mode, kündigt die veröffentlichung von mg an, einem atmosphärischen, 16 stücke umfassenden instrumentalalbum, das ende april auf mute erscheinen wird. martin gore begann die arbeit an mg in seinem heimstudio in santa barbara, kurz nach abschluss der delta machine-tour im märz 2013. mit der idee eines rein instrumentalen albums ging er allerdings schon geraume zeit schwanger. abgemischt wurde das album - wie zuletzt bereits das 2012er album *sssss* von vcmg, der zusammenarbeit von martin gore mit vince clark - vom kalifornischen produzenten q / Überzone. das album erscheint auf doppelvinyl im gatefold inklusive digital copy

nach der heiss erwarteten veröffentlichung >ep1 / spock< veröffentlicht mute nun die zweite single-auskopplung >ep2 / single blip<. eine bedrohlich-pumpende bassline durchzieht diesen von dunklen, filterigen synthies dominierten und mit rhythmischen bleeps gefütterten minimal-industrial techno track. neben der treibenden originalversion finden sich noch zwei hochwertige remixe von byetone und mathew jonson auf der b-seite. olaf bender (byetone), einer der gründer des legendären experimental-elektronik labels raster-noton veröffentlichte 2011 sein hochgelobtes album >symeta< welches unter anderen in den jahresbestenlisten von fact & the quietus auftauchte. der kanadier mathew jonson wiederum machte sich in der szene neben seinem gehypten impro-projekt cobblestone jazz und veröffentlichungen auf seinem eigenen label wagon repair unter anderem mit remixen für plastikman, moby und den chemical brothers einen namen. die ep wurde wie auch das album von stefan betke (pole) gemastered und von timothy q wiles gemixt

30 jahre nachdem sie ihre eigenen musikalischen wege eingeschlagen hatten, tun sich die beiden elektronischen musikpioniere vince clarke (erasure, yazoo, depeche mode) und martin l.gore (depeche mode) zum ersten mal seit 1981 wieder zusammen und veröffentlichen unter dem namen vcmg ein album und eine reihe von eps. vcmg ist das resultat einer halbjährigen auseinandersetzung mit ihrer gemeinsamen leidenschaft für techno und eine äußerst enthusiastische zusammenarbeit. das bisher noch unbetitelte album wurde von vince clarke und martin l.gore produziert und von dem kalifornischen produzenten Überzone/q abgemischt. es erscheint am frühjahr 2012 bei mute. die erste auskopplung ist die ep spock, die neben dem albumtrack auch remixe folgender künstler enthält: edit-select, aka tony scott. englischer dj und gründer von edit select records, der schon remixe für speedy j., death in vegas und gary beck gemacht hat. regis aka karl o connor. mitglied des sandwell district-kollektivs und mitbegründer von downwards records. xoq ist das alter ego von Überzone / q, der das vcmg album abgemischt hat.

copenhagens music for dreams comes with yet another strong release - a double album of personal favourites compiled by jan schulte. according to all maps and witness accounts, germany does not officially have any tropical forests. this is of no concern to schulte however, who has unearthed many stunning examples of tropical drum music recorded there. perhaps the number of botanical gardens and palm houses in germany confused musicians into mistaking the climate, or maybe it was just a happy blend of escapism and multi-cultural integration within musical scenes that spawned such a curious output of undefinable tribal folk jazz. most of the tracks picked by schulte were released on small labels in the late 80 s. the musicians involved were mainly traditionally schooled, born and raised in germany. at that time to be interested in foreign folk music might have seemed a gimmick to some, what with the emerging -world music boom- already snowballing into the mainstream. but these songs, while they may be based on musical traditions from foreign lands, deal much more with introspection than exploitation. schulte himself points to his -general fascination for music that describes places where the artists have never been. songs about the jungle or the rainforest made by people that know the rainforest only from television and books. somehow i think you can hear their mythical imagination and fantasy in those tracks,- he explains....

its a brighter, more immediate sound than before warmer, too, with the singers voices positively glowing inside intricately woven electronic nests. but theres no lack of nuance. every track is a delicate balance of intimate delivery and cosmic sonics, underscored by a faint sense of melancholy.
