baptiste letertre is ringard and comes from rennes, britanny s biggest city with a strong electronic music culture. ringard has a label called dance around 88 because he was born in 1988. ringard released 8 vinyl records. -lacrima rossa- is his first 12- outside his own label so it s a great pleasure for us to have him on board. ringard music is deep but raw, woolly, melancholic yet emotional. think soulful techno, steamroom slo-mo, warehouse heat and euphoric minimal. morphine electronics at its best with amazing strings and killer frequencies like lobster theremin meeting boards of canada in a fantasy balearic island. in french, ringard means tacky or outdated. it has never sound so cool being ringard!

after two fine first releases on bordello a parigi and multi culti, mytron & ofofo make their lyo debut with a five tracker full of diverse influences. combining vintage gear with modern production tools, the mysterious duo based in london and paris wonderfully connects the dots between disco-funk, afro-zouk infused grooves or melancholic spacey electro creating a fresh eclectic fusion. both organic and synthetic, futuristic with traditional roots, -topography- draws a line on exotic territories between cultural blends and backgrounds.

next up for les yeux orange is a collaboration between earth trax, also known for his productions as the phantom & one half of ptaki, and newborn jr. individually or together, the polish winning duo is on hell of a hotstreak lately with some remarkable works for rhythm section, echovolt or phonica and connoisseur mixes for thump or stamp the wax. they debut on lyo with a diverse selection of four dreamy, melodic and emotional tracks both suitable for the club or for a domestic listening.

devon lyon, born devon bailey, moved to kingston in the 70 s to live in trenchtown with his mum, his sister and his brother named dennis. dennis was working in the new kingston area on a construction site. dennis met a friend who worked at the construction site and that friend was the lead singer from the group the chantells. . dennis told the chantells lead singer that his brother was singing at home like he was singing everyday on construction work site. the chantells lead singer told dennis to bring his brother devon. one day, devon came with his brother devon and they met the three members of the group the chantells. they became friends. devon started to verse with them in the evening and they really like him style.

polyop was formed in 2015 by producers jack driscoll, harry orso and visual artist and programmer alex kempton. since then they have been researching and developing a visual-audio experience that fuses nature and tribal culture with the machine. ceremony is the first exploration of that aesthetic, with their own take on acid house, they take the subject on a hypnotic journey through an alternate sonic-visual reality. kemp mutates ceremony into something between disco and techno, the kick and bassline thick and pulsing, whilst the percussion syncopates infectiously. the track progresses into a crescendo, which is amplified by the cavernous feel of the mix. this is certain to hypnotise 3am dancefloor-pagans into a state of worship.

born in america, raised in scotland, singing saxophonist amy lyon has been writing and singing music for around 6 years and began playing saxophone at the age of 10. with a love for jazz, funk and soul her influences include ella fitzgerald, otis redding, amy winehouse and erykah badu. with marlon hoffstadt she found an congenial partner to take her songs to the dancefloor. despite his innocent age of 18 years marlon’s productions keep up with those of the well known when it comes to quality. stylistically his sounds are somewhere between pop and house. marlon has that certain “something” that creates its own character and a very distinctive sound. their debut ep “you and a love stoned ghost,” contains four enchanting tracks created by the synergy of marlon’s fresh productions and amy’s energetic voice.

nice price deal !!! this is dasein, the opening potion of milyoos (aka tommy wilson) debut ep and the second release on subeenas new opit records. dasein attempts to grapple with existence, temporality and substance and what could be a more perfect description of these warped sonics- perpetual motion purely of the moment. multitude makes you feel like a tourist at an off-world bazaar, a strange landscape with a slug-bass bubble undercarriage and inquisitive wide-eyed synths. fayoh leads in with in a harold budd doing house piano before being pounced on by clipped vocal tics and odd blocks of cubist sound all underpinned by a funky beat and quite frankly its gorgeous. if there is a strand of coherence across the ep then its an almost exotic one- these are curiosities, virtual ships in bottles, they are not narrative pieces even if they are in constant motion. only two releases in and opit records is clearly going to avoid easy categorisation- milyoos debut is something to get mighty excited about and i await further transmissions with baited breath...
