krystal klear captures the essence of nycs underground music culture with danceteria / keith haring released 27th february on his own cold tonic imprint. krystal klear has released on all city records, rinse, eglo, madtech, and cold tonic. he also curates a monthly show on rinse fm while djing the most exciting clubs around the globe. from his roots in dublin to attending the star-studded red bull music academy in madrid, krystal klear’s signature productions blend early-days nyc dance music with a forward- thinking sensibility.

paradise garage anthem “let’s do it” by convertion with remixes by krystal klear to be released on original sam records label. 12” vinyl released on september 9, 2016 let’s do it by convertion was originally released in 1981 on sam records, and featured production by greg carmichael and vocals by leroy burgess. upon release this song immediately went into heavy rotation for larry levan at the paradise garage and for frankie crocker, then the number one rated disco jockey on new york city’s number 1 ranked radio station wbls. over the years it has become a staple of classic disco playlists worldwide. now remixed as a peak hour tune for today’s dancefloor, this 12” release includes two mixes produced by dec lennon p/k/a/ krystal klear. a dublin native and red bull music academy alumni, klear has made a steady rise to become one of the freshest new faces in music that both has the chops to destroy underground dance floors with his deep crate of records or spin out polished productions in the studio with legends like nile rodgers. klear’s musical accolades can be conveyed through his singles “tried for your love” that was championed by bbc r1 dj benji b for 13 weeks in a row, and “addiction” which has helped solidify main stage at top tier events such as sonar, fabric, space ibiza, and the famed panorama bar.

cold tonic are back with their first release of 2016 - this time its a split 12” between the label boss and brand new signing sandboards. the a side see’s kk take the foundation of squad (tonic001) and extend it into an 8 minute uplifting anthem drenched in euphoria and vitamin d. on the flip - we’re extremely happy to present a new signing for the label - sandboards. this is the duo’s musical debut, a love song for the dance floor. ‘nothing but a freak’ combines rattling drums and melancholic chords sitting pretty underneath a spoken word monologue about the one thing that keeps us moving.

sometimes you wait and things fall into place, this is an a&r man s dream. you can spend hours banging your head, waiting for lightening to strike, trying to find the perfect pairing, it s there floating around in your head but the answer is not clear. the record needs a remix, but who would be perfect?

tonic003 shows label founder krystal klear joining forces with a fresh off the boat vocalist in the form of flex washington. a two track 12 alongside a crafty accapella for the djs showcases a another step in a darker club foundation for the label head merging elements of new jacking r n b on top of rigorous drum patterns all tied together by the romanticism in flex s vocal tone.

barely has the dust settled on the first cold tonic, yet label boss krystal klear is back already with two more heavy hitters for tonic002. building on the foundations of the debut release, dance 7fs shows a darker shadow rarely seen in previous krystal klear music. moving into lights out, eyes down territorywith the driving breaks of west end disco, this is kk stepping into his own. fumer tue features relics-esque string laden melancholy but never ever goes fully pg. this is r-rated lovers music and, if the feedback is anywhere near the mark, could easily go straight into last-tune-of-the-night-classic territory for the next generation of dance music connoisseurs.

with its lush live string and horn section, can’t stop loving you when originally released in 1990 was an immediate favorite in the uk, and represented famed house producer marshall jefferson’s movement toward utilizing live instrumentation in his productions. the track was released right around the time the kiss fm london launched as a legal radio station, and richard was support talent at the radio station launch party in hyde park london that was headlined by fellow chicagoans ten city.
the track also represented one of the last releases on the relaunched sam records imprint, before michael weiss ceased releasing new titles on sam and started nervous records.
krystal klear has shown a unique ability to recognize sonic elements trends from past eras, and re-shape them to work for today’s club crowds. with his two versions, he has done a masterful job remixing this early 90’s dance classic.
