after his contributions to both knotweed records 020 and decision making theory 019 under his project the fallen (together with plural), fbk now drops an ep of his own on knotweed records. 4 slices of minimalist techno, deep on the a side, raw on the b side, always groovy and funky - dive in!

dear friends, it s been five years already since i started this adventure. thanks to all the artists involved so far: myk derill, gonzalo md, opuswerk, myles sergé, terrence dixon, invite, hydergine, julixo, dying & barakat, bleak, benales and the fallen. most important of all, thank you for your support! here is to another 5 years.

this is the second episode of our various artists serie. the fallen (a collaboration between plural (james johnson) and fbk (kevin kennedy)) opens the e.p. with interference, a fast paced killer hypnotic dance floor friendly dub track: they create a sound that is unique, fluid and extremely danceable. philippe petit follows with exposed, a stripped down, bleepy bass-heavy rhythmic piece of techno. julixo brings us own structure, an aggressive jackin techno track leading to a warm synth line that will leave nobody indifferent. terrence dixon closes the e.p. with odd numbers, a track that only him can do. sub bass melodic techno reduced to the max: ace!

benales opens the e.p. with radiate, a track where you can clearly hear his influences of the american school of 90s minimal techno. long time dj but new on the production side, this is benales first effort on vinyl. after his initial masterpiece on knotweed records (kw006) and a handful of releases on demented (hiss 1992) and krill, opuswerk is back on knotweed with displacement, a trippy, hard hitting, analogic techno attack: no concession on this one! gonzalo md has already delivered the goods on both knotweed (kw004 and kw011) and decision making theory (dmt 006), as well as a fantastic ep recently on extrasolar. here, with sharp oscillation, he keeps developing his unique style, producing a highly percussive, almost samba-like, piece of techno. label owner philippe petit closes the e.p. with indian summer, a track moving along a warm bassline, bearing some recognisable krautrock influences.

i first heard of julixo when i put my hands on his fantastic ep called silas released on rauh 005. after that, i kept a close eye on the sounds he was posting, and when i heard rebho, i knew we were going to do something together. the warm synth line, together with the jackin drum patterns, were perfect. then came reflections, which fitted superbly with rebho. although slower, and maybe more introspective, you still have that warm feeling going through the track. we decided to go with life of crime on the other side of the record. much more aggressive in its construction, that track deserved a side on its own: modern techno at its best. i hope you will enjoy this nice versatile release as much as i do! best regards, philippe petit

finally hydergine joins the knotweed records family! hydergine (aka roberto corizzo) is a techno producer from southern italy. he is best known for producing raw dub techno, and has come up with a string of fantastic releases in the last 3 years on labels such as separate skills and ranges.we have been talking to each other since the early days of knotweed records, trying to find the right tracks for the label. roberto approached us at the beginning of the year with some tracks that were a bit -different- than his usual productions: he was experimenting, and we liked it a lot. that s how the gamma experiments e.p. was born.the a side of the gamma experiments e.p. is a heavy atmospheric techno bomb. both tracks on the b side have more an acid feeling to them, incorporating weird arps, rawness and pad trips.enjoy the ride!

we are happy to welcome invite (aka tim van paradijs) to the knotweed records family. many of you already know tim for his skills as a dj and for his famous invites choice podcasts serie. he now demonstrates his production skills by delivering three big room techno tracks that will for sure make some noise on techno dance floors across the globe.

deep, moody, yet powerful techno from the reclusive perfectionist. myles come up with two deeper, slower, moodier minimalistic tracks, venturing in more house territory: *red eye to bogota* and *when i meet god*. both tracks go over 10 minutes during which myles slowly tweaks the rhythmic elements, basslines and chords for your aural pleasure. myles also delivers a more stripped-down uptempo techno track that we love him for, *transmilenio*: its full on repetitive bassline should for sure inflict some dancefloor damage.

myk derill is back on knotweed! kw 013, the numbers e.p., is a four track adventure into myks immediately recognisable techno universe. he strips down his techno to the bare minimum and goes even darker than usual.

after his cosmic gate e.p. (knotweed 004), gonzalo comes back with four new tracks. here he develops further his very unique style of techno, blending deep, dubby and spacey chords together with a fierce sub-bass heavy dark background pounding beat for maximum efficiency.

for our second release, i am very glad to welcome on board myk derill! myk comes from berlin, germany. he already has several releases under his belt. he creates a very dark techno, without any concessions, influenced by the current sounds of the techno underground i love.
