throughout ibadan records deeply-rooted new york history and its ongoing transcendent surge into the future, there are certain special moments in house music history to acknowledge. this brings us to our 138th ibadan records installment by kerri chandler. kerri chandler was one of the many artists who benefited from jerome sydenhams artistic direction. the two initially met in 1991, when sydenham was a part of the a&r team that signed chandlers debut single to atlantic records. after sydenham founded ibadan records in 1995, the two collaborated on several groundbreaking projects that stand as a testament to house music history and to their long-lasting friendship. chandlers early career evolved through illustrious house remixes and productions. tracks like drink on me, shoe-b-doo, while were young and aint that a bitch truly exemplify the trailblazing and original innovative spirit of kerri chandler and the birth of his signature sound. presenting new york chronicles vol. ii

ok. this is an anthem. you know “dance” already, right? huge pal joey jam from way back in 1990? the one that flips carl bean’s “i was born this way” into the stratosphere? yeah, that’s it! except this is that track reimagined by 2 killer producers, flipped and edited into the cosmos by the new jersey legend kerri chandler and the west coast’s onionz, probably the only producers who could touch such a stone cold classic and actually bring something to the table! originally out in 2002 these 2 edits / mixes are total weapons, you need this 12” in your bag. everything is touched, tweaked and blended in just the right way and full respect is given to the mixes. this isn’t no fly by night re-edit thing, this is heavyweights bringing us some heat and their interpretation of a track that was obviously a huge deal for them on a personal level. do not snooze on this, masterfully repressed, with the full consent of everyone involved and remastered on a solid 12” for you all.

the second instalment of kc’s finger printz ep’s has finally been repressed! that’s right, you know how it goes down by now, this is that high-grade, underground, boomin’, house music! every track is a dancefloor shaker, kerri style. if you don’t know what that means it’s simple - swinging, tough drums, killer samples, those basslines and a whole lot of new jersey swagger! this one came out in 1998 and features 4 storming cuts that cover a variety of styles, such is the versatility of kerri’s sound. it’s all here, vocal cuts, dubwise deepness, jazzed out late night jams for the hardcore dancers.... you got it all. absolutely essential business here. one for the hardened kc acolytes and one that will undoubtedly blow the minds of those tuning in for the first time. timeless music.
