g.i.disco - an 80s history of cold war s hottest music in west-germany berlin local dj heroes kalle kuts and daniel w. best a.k.a. g.i.disco have compiled an excellent 80s soul, funk, r & b and disco selection. it combines representative music of that time with informative liner notes about the german historical background (which also is an important part of 20th century s world history), international artist quotes and worldwide renowned art by berlin based photographer frank thiel to an unique history lesson and listening experience. soul, funk and r&b from the us became a worldwide dance and clubbing movement during the 70s when it turned disco. in the late 70s and 80s more and more new electronic instruments like synthesizers and drum machines were added to the horn riffs and piano licks, bringing the funk back on the dance floor while still leaving it s soul untouched. although a global success story, it played an interesting role especially in the german experience. lp comes in gatefold sleeve.

kalle-markus mätäsjarvi aka kalle-m in coop with his tampere colleague dj shuffle results an energetic tune called 'kepardi', which is the finnish meaning for hunting-leopard. michael diekmann, known from his remix for jussi-pekkas 'the snake' (wr02) reworked 'kepardi' on the flipside, concentrating more on the functionality. this time we don't want to spend much words on the description of the track - its just hot, sounds like detroit and has the energy of a prey. this is what we call trance-music

thomas urv, co-founder of renowned norwegian techno label and event series ploink, readies his debut album. whilst the label was launched in 2014, the event series celebrated 20 years in 2016 - releasing music from scandinavian talents such as prins thomas, mental overdrive, christian tilt, +plattform and skatebard.
alec troniq continues his impacting uncrufter series on ipoly with a new improved formula – model number 2000. fauxpas on a-side elates for a thorough spring-cleaning and teases out a positive temper for the coming season. for kallewürsch! on b1 he picked up some cuckoo grooves by ka.rambolage and goes berserk with em. subsequently mr. troniq takes possession of the tube on b2 and haunts the place with pounding announcements.
ultaphat pounding minimal techno remix with some sweet detroitish chords by future beat investigators (they have already released on sonar kollektiv) on the aside!!tip.. the flip contains the original and a kalle-m remix which are more electrofied but also great stuff for the primetime !!
