futuristic-funk starchild jimmy edgar returns with the third single to be taken form his recent album >majenta< out earlier this year on hotflush. this time edgar shoves is free-spirited sexual appetite in your face, with a slice of stripped-down, upfront electro-funk complete with j.g. ballard-inspired lyrics of car-crash sexual fetishism. alongside the original album cut, two alternate takes are reworked by a pair of producers at the very top of their game: jon convex and john talabot. whilst talabot creates an eerie and downright epic re-imagining through his combination of amazonian electronics and volume manipulation, the convex cut enhances the dance floor potential of the original with bubbling, arpeggiated 303 bass.

when delorean toured with teengirl fantasy last spring they told us about a song that had really blown them away. when they shared it with us we understood why. it was called >cheaters< and sounded like an instant classic. very different to the trademark psychedelic jams of the duo, the song was homage to classic chicago house from a modern perspective. built around layers of blissful synths and borrowing the vocals of first committees >cheaters never win<, it had that kind of energy that we sometimes miss in contemporary dance music. later that summer, john talabot visited new york and became aware that the track was going to be released by true panther sounds only as part of the album >7am<. something sparked inside us. we felt it was not fair that such an incredible track had to share its vinyls grooves with other songs so we thought it would be nice to dedicate a full maxi side to it.

head-turning singles >tuff enough< and >take em up< from marcus >shit robot< lambkins fantastic debut, from the cradle to the rave, get reinvented by two of the most talented dj/producers working in electronic music. on the a-side is germanys michael mayers epically inventive take on >tuff enuff<. less muscular than lambkins original, the remix softens things up by placing supple keys under the hardened exterior. the climax is an otherworldly listening experience that literally builds to take off. on the flip, john talabots remix of >take em up< starts like a laidback house party that builds just enough energy when its relocated under disco lights. the haunting opening — a swirling, ghostly blend of elliptical vocals and handclaps — leads to a sonic journey that is as smooth as it is wholly entrancing. this fantastic coupling of tracks is being produced in very short supply, so snap them up quickly!

2009 was quite a frenetic year for john talabot.from scratch he became oneof the biggest hopes for electronic music scene in spain.all thanks to hiseffusive house tracks in which moodymann, j dilla, chicago house, discomusic and northern soul intertwine to produce organic and humane songs, fullof life, and that make your hands and heart dance.

after a short hiatus, misericord is back for 2010 with more off-kilter missives for back-room massive. first up is the welcome return of mr al usher. his >gnanfou< ep christened the label back in the summer of 2007 and was rapturously received / licensed all over the place. al has been quiet of late, busy being a dad and doing a proper job, but prins thomas put his out of the loop gem >lullaby for robert< out again in 2009 to much acclaim. this new release >hilversum< is very much its follow-up: al at his most unashamedly gorgeous, re-contextualising an old deutsche neue welle melody and weaving it into a characteristically intricate and beautiful piece of post-balearic loveliness. for the flip we commissioned a remix from one of europes most exciting new producers, barcelonas john talabot.

after mondkopf and 33hz, here is the fool house third ep : deloreans ayrton senna, somewhere between phoenix, the though alliance and air france, coming with a remix by john talabot, the latest revelation on the excellent permanent vacation label. delorean is an unheard scenario in popular music. 4 barcelonans, free as air, high on o2. gradually moving away from a more hardcore scene they are now ready to embrace a kind of techno that youd play with guitars. they did just that with their 3rd ep into the plateau which was well received in a cross-over underground scene- well before the electro-something ideas and the 80s references became the clichÚs of an overcoded era. in 2008, delorean got stuck into in the remix business working on tracks for mystery jets, big pink and glasser. for now delorean are focused on developing a new type of indie pop and judging by the early support from pitchfork, fader or xl8r this band are ones to watch. its with the greatest pride that fool house welcomes them, for a length of 4 songs, just like a holiday

john talabot is a youngster from barcelona with a rather special way of approaching music. borrowing his schools name for his alias and the most diverse samples for his music, he produces expansive and iconoclastic housey tracks. his influences range from flamenco to northern soul, from african music to traditional asian songs and he s inspiration sources go from the profound and sensual house of moodyman and labels such as sound signature or kdj to disco music, chicago house, pop or techno, whatever he likes. sounds like a bass kick and a sampler, he says us in his myspace, no less. this young producer and tireless musical tracker has the ability not just to find the appropriate samples but also to conjugate them wisely. in a great exercise of sonic inventiveness, guitars, strings and keyboards are combined in his tracks with rhythms and vocals with african reminiscences, to give us his own vision of house music, original and personal, but yet very effective. cliche allergic, songs like naomi, korlee or afrika sound cosmic and tremendously emotional without losing sight of the dance floor (thats what we call fat beats). his tracks are organic, human, full of life, the kind of music that keeps not only your foot moving but also your heart tingling.

bobby b (a.k.a andre ferreira) is perhaps best known as bobby browser, as he is previously issued a pair of eps for the 100% silk label under that name. those records were excellent, but its fair to say that his icee hot debut finds ferreira exploring a richer, deeper sound. >history< is slow-burning deep house jaunt that subtly nods to detroit along the course of its soul-drenched journey. >so true< warms things up, but only slightly, as its relaxed tones, warbling melodies, and loosely stitched breakbeat offer a blissed-out path to the dancefloor.
