for the debut of his newfound label ipso records, ko&#776,,,,lsch wanted to try something new. he has long been a fan of limiting himself in the studio. sometimes working with less equipment brings out the best in you, so for the first release i figured it would be interesting to experiment with this, ko&#776,,,,lsch says. inspired by the danish dogma films, he decided to make a rule, and as he is not one for overdoing things, the rule is very simple.

k skip skipson has built himself quite a fan base with his funky releases as (knarf) skipson on quintessentials and other labels. the young man from berlin is deeply infuenced by hip hop – both in terms of production techniques (he uses an mpc as his main instrument) as well as aesthetically. for maria colors he comes up with four massive house tracks full of hip hop and soul samples which make you wonder, can it get any deeper than this?! funky as hell and extremely soulful – thats what makes these tracks from skipson so special – and at the same time theyre a wonderful way to celebrate the labels first birthday.

after he caught our attention several times with a string of releases on such labels as quintessentials for example, we are very happy to introduce skipson as a new artist on our label. his influences can be found somewhere between labels like classic or music for freaks for example. these influences combined with a great passion for detroit house from the likes of kdj or andres create the very own skipson sound that we like so much and that always shows his ability to add something unique to his productions.

and the story goes like this: skipson (also known as knarf skipson in the past) was recording the >ks editspot pt.1<, which is based on samples from a rob mello track. as skipson is a nice fella, he sent the final version to rob. and as rob is a nice fella too, he liked it, sent one of his tracks back and this project was born. thats the easy way of sample clearing! this 10inch is about house music, as simple as that! groovy beats and fat basslines, rough and ready. limited to 500 copies - enjoy!
