condor gruppe is back with a new record, interplanetary travels. the title hinting at sun ra is no coincidence. pushing their musical boundaries even further, condor gruppe recorded 8 new songs that give you the creepy feel of a horror scene, the heroism of the best film scores and the hypnotizing grooves of jungle tribes. diverse, yet exciting and challenging enough to give you a mesmerizing trip through the bands own dusty record shelves.

our loyal companion steve parker continues to raise awareness off what he can do in the scene. this “interplanetary dust lp” is another example of what he is capable of. a 2x12” containing 8 powerful tracks that fits right into the resume of our widely ranged techno collection. first record on white, 2nd on black vinyl.

at the third new interplanetary melodies astral journey stopover, it was mandatory to catch an italian project deeply inspired by the sun ra visionary realm, expressing contemporary trials of hybridising jazz with artful electronica. so ra toth and the brigantes orchestra landed on vinyl grooves for the label, after having previously appeared on the likes of mathematics and berceuse heroique. behind the sound, we find the elusive and unpredictable genius of the well-respected producer marcello napoletano.
nim received the distorted sound signal from napoletano taken over by the egyptian deity born from the lips of ra. who knows if those noises were coming from a parallel dimension, outer space, or some otherworldly sphere...? submerged in dark bottom waters, the stormy waves of the acid sea are made of convulsive afro-flavoured percussion with sharp synths looming out like the ivories of some freakish abyssal creatures.

the record opens up with the poisonous title-track “two scorpios”, where sharp analogue leads lean on a relentless disco-funk groove, thrusting us out straight against the sweaty walls of the chicago’s muzic box. the airy and enchanting spirals of “solenoid” create a detachment for a sonic trip through circling arpeggios and sparkles. on the flip side, we reconnect abyssy to the “young soulomon” of early 90’s by a warm and robotics dusty house. the mood turns definitely more freaky with “slomo kid”: sampling divertissement with a punkish flavour and emphatic rhythmics, it is the perfect tune to shake down the whole ball of wax.

after their collaboration at last years unsound festival, there were rumours about a recorded ep from interplanetary prophets a.k.a. jamal moss (hieroglyphic being) and daniel martin mccormick (ital). the good news is they were true. these tracks are the fruits of studio jams earlier this year, edited down into three long, dense pieces. and the coupling really works, interplanetary prophets feels and sounds like a brand new entity.

all 4 tracks contrast tuff dry drums & low sweeping subs with cosmic atmospheres and twilight melodies and chords. theres a unique strictness in the drums here, less swung than typical garage but with innovative programming that shows a producer keen to explore new possibilities. as ever with well rounded and our producer friends, we are celebrating influences from the past - think classic 4/4 uk garage in the vein of dem 2, mixed with early 90s rave sounds and welded together in a motor city car plant. with added post-dubstep production sensibilities, littlefoot is creating an unheralded hybrid sound. all 4 tracks contribute to the completeness of the ep - we go in hard, explore different areas and complete our journey with the last track. we hope you enjoy this trip.
