albrecht la brooy s analogue attic imprint welcomes citizen maze onto its roster with the four-track serenity in the woods ep. australian duo albrecht la brooy have been steadily carving out a name for themselves over the past few years with their jazz-inflected take on deep house via the likes of apollo/r&s, night tide and of course their own analogue attic imprint which has become a home for their own output as well as fellow australian artists like sleep d, rings around saturn and more. here though we see the label offer up the inaugural ep from melbourne s adam mccoy aka citizen maze. leading on the package is the ten-minute natural playgroun , embracing the labels signature field recording background aesthetic whilst stirring in organic drum grooves, fluttering pads and jazzy sax licks throughout. glade hollow follows with bumpy, off-kilter drums and ethereal chords at its core whilst horn lines and twinkling synth melodies wander across its eight-minute duration. moonlight sanctuary opens the flip-side, edging into darker territories with murky dubbed out synth flourishes, robust drums and tension building strings before title-track serenity in the woods rounds out the package, laying focus on a snaking sub bass groove, metallic percussive shuffles and expansive atmospherics.

vinyl only, alex took his first musical steps by studying piano and guitar at the young age of 6. his fascination for the more outlandish, experimental side of each instrument corrupted his lessons and sent him down a modular synths and tape loop composition wormhole. years later alex resurfaced, got himself clean and, through connections made while spending time as a vocal audience member (and sometimes uninvited participant) at lyman woodard, phil ranelin, and other tribe- and motown-linked gigs in cass corridor during the mid-1970s, spent time as a session musician for earth wind and fire, chic, and prince. it was only toward the mid-90s he found himself enthralled by the techno and house sounds of detroit and chicago so he went into the woodshed and came out firing electronic salvos.

from nursery to misery were three teenagers who grew up together on the same street in basildon, essex. formed in 1987, the band was comprised of vocalists (and identical twins) gina and tina fear, along with keyboard player and producer lee stevens.

julius previous outings consist mainly of collaborations and split eps on such great labels as underground quality, laid and of course his own imprint smallville. on geo 002 julius gets the entire record for himself and the result is a magic 12 inch which we are happy and proud to share with all of you.

the second of two eps from talented californian newcomer, tyler friedman, has now arrived. a night in the woods ep starts of as a murky rhythmic experiment. when released of its bound, it transforms into a hailstorm of sound that builds in melodic intensity towards a final climax. this is scenic and brave electronic dancemusic that over and over again will capture the focused listener. on the b-side rivet for sure push tyler towards berghain. but now the tool is somewhat different. rivet transforms the cinematic original into a very dirty and dry party stomper.

steyoyokes second release truly shows the labels love for eloquent and surprising house music. the labels second release by their own dahu comes in strong with an atmospheric ep called >deep in the woods<, two crisply produced tracks likely to arouse the senses. berlin-based dahu describes his music as >atmospheric house with delicate melodies and bass-driven sound< and with this, his first release on steyoyoke, he certainly stays true to his word. craftily blending a shuffling percussion with a resonating lead, dahu creates a hypnotic journey reminiscent of rustling leaves and a walk through a dark wood at night. an exciting and atmospheric ep from dahu provides a solid second release for berlins newest imprint: steyoyoke records.
