its the big 5! berlin frankfurt based label house is ok is celebrating its five-year long presence and has decided to mark that period with something special labels story started with a sticker homeboy printed in his former hometown, zagreb, saying house is ok. catchy, right? it became an underground slogan of the local scene. it didnt take long for people to embrace the idea stating that its ok to be into melodic, fresh, groovy yet, at times, a bit awkward dance music. just around the same time homeboys frankfurt based bros oliver achatz and janis played with the idea of starting a record label. guess what the logical choice for the name was? ten records, dozens of original songs and remixes later house is ok continues to grow. literally. what was once a platform for the original three founders is now an international family affair supporting the talented artists from frankfurt, stockholm, alexandria and orlando. nurturing the friendly approach this musical family continues to grow. looking back at the first five years, not only at the music that connected them all but at the bonds that deepened through the production process, house is ok crew wanted to take create a proper reminder and thank the ones supporting them throughout the years. a double 12 pack titled gemišt seemed like a proper way to do that. „gemišt will be released as two separate eps featuring the original music from kornél kovacs, roman flügel, gavri & mcqueen, tcb, house of life and the label makers themselves. oliver and janis deliver tracks under their known names, while homeboy introduces his new project with fellow wilde renate resident the swift, called longhair. croatian artist ugruv smek marks his yearlong collaboration with the label delivering yet another smashing artwork.

the ninth installment on house is ok comes from homeboy who brings four fresh joints to the table. after making the move to berlin earlier this year, this mediterranean goodboy brings some newly acquired production techniques with his latest record. live drum sampling, loose synth riffs and other more personal notes can be heard across the entire release. for decisions ricochet, homeboy teamed up with the croatian blues man bebe na vole who takes this record into unexplored territories for the label. these four tracks werent necessarily designed to move bodies on the dance floor, but more likely mirror his inspiration from the past 12 months and show his abilities to simply write great music. its house not house, post-disco, jazz, and acid synth hippie music all at the same time. the heart is where homeboy is will hit stores in late september both as a 12? vinyl ep

house is ok, but oli, janis and homeboy never said they were exclusively a house label. introducing house of life and dgf to the world, they make a slight change in direction. this split 7 inch single leaves the world of 4/4 interpretations and takes the imprint to the land of creep hop and trip pop. house of life is a project of chaveli sifre riestra & nikias chryssos. they make songs about men who dance with no pants, jesus christ, satan, and darkroom murderers. their lyrics are channeled through occult rites, internet forums, computer codes, and therapy sessions.hans with no pants tells the story of a guy who likes to party with kids, eat cake and serve cool drinks. he lives in a house by the beach and invites guests to dance with him, but what goes on in his basement remains an unspoken mystery. on the flip, a number from dgf, a project of nikias & label honcho janis. greif meine hand was originally written for the original soundtrack of nikas short film the grandfather. after it got to the 2nd place on the intergalactic fm demo competition and got props by the likes of i-f, rude66 and dj tlr, we decided to give it a second chance by putting it on this lush 45.

house is oks seventh instalment goes kraut with a three tracker from chris beiswenger formally known as tcb (the citizens band). since the split up of arto mwambe, chris has been slowly building a sound of his own. instead of sticking to standard templates he has gone deep into modular synthesis and his music can be described as futuristic, kindred and cerebral. labels such as live at robert johnson, tasteful nudes and story already recognised tcbs unique twist and rather happy songs is just another proof of his unquestionable quality. these three mid-tempo techno ballads will get your mind moving and spirit floating while your body will fall in instant trance dancing to these highly hypnotising pieces. a remix from roman flu?gel on top makes the ep a 100% frankfurt affair and when it comes to house and techno, we frankfurters take our green sauce serious, dont we? cheers, hiok team

its release time for house is ok! frankfurt based label waited a bit longer than usual for its co-owner marko pelaic aka homeboy to come up with new sounds so it doesnt really surprise theyve decided to let him take over this, one man reign ep, first of that sort for this etiquette. kaprije is not only news for the label but homeboy himself in a way he defined it as writing a new chapter, stepping away from traditional house music, exploring more of the experimental and modern sounds a direction hes interested in continuing.
