in drum and bass, things happen quickly. overnight success comes with one big tune, new labels spring up almost every day, and tracks are declared old news before they have even been released. but even by these standards, im:ltd are making serious moves. with seven releases, including two eps, to their name since dropping in may this year, the french label celebrate the unprecedented success of their digital venture with this, their first vinyl release to date. this is a big moment for the label, and the pair of tracks represented here are of the calibre we have come to expect from these guys.
the fourth and final sampler for the way of the samurai represents the full stylistic diversity of the label samurai music. hobzee & zyon base were asked to design a tune specifically for this project and when 1000 paper cranes arrived in the inbox it was obvious they had a very firm grasp on the sound the label was looking for. fluid, gliding vibes and a subtle sexy vocal ease the tune into its rhythm. the breaks and bass provide a step reminiscent of photek to the eastern sonics that unwind themselves around the rhythm.
