marseille-based producer grant returns to his self-released white label series with an ever more expansive ep of deep, rolling house. with a firm grasp for 80’s chicago and detroit house tased with 90’s deep house tropes, grant004 finds him on deepest ever form, with swirling luscious pads, snippet vocals and thudding percussion sinking us further down into the depths.
chubby has already earned its stripes as a podcast and party in australia dealing in connoisseurs deep house, and their leap to the world of vinyl is no less classy. the first release splits a 12- between four esteemed practitioners of true skool beats for switched on heads, leading in with antipodean maestro ewan jansen. after delivering the plush tones of his -plants,- moods & grooves label boss mike grant pops up to remix jansen with stunning, understated results. trinidadian deep takes over on the b side with the typically shimmering melodics and dextrous drums he s much loved for. mr yt then serves up a final remix, nudging -move me- just a little up the energy scale with the help of a killer organ line placed at the front of the mix.
200 copies - vinyl only - giant records sees in the new year with a killer ep from a bright new producer from poland, by the name of, mariuz kryska, mariuz offers up two peak time grooves here with remix duties falling on, sascha dive and giant head honcho grant dell. the first track up is low jam, which sees the original mix dive into a deep drum lead swing reminiscent of old todd terry beats, that have gone before, all topped off with a spoken word and tight hats and rides. next up is sascha dive - giving low jam a slowed down dubby feel with some sweet dubbed-out stabs that evolves into that deep house sound that sascha has mastered over the years. next cut is no perspective mariuzs original mix is a relentless bass heavy work out which weaves around some slick west coast gangsta rhymes and detroit style strings and pads. grant dells take on no perspective leans on the detroit style pad, from the original and adds some off kilter 808 beats that sit nicely along some smart 303 stabs and the gangsta rhyme which then merges into a slick techno jam with added breakbeats.
grant launches his new label duke’s distribution - a new hot house dedicated to releasing original new music with no boundaries of genre and style.
first out the gate comes a double lp by the man himself. grant s signature deep and atmospheric grooves drip like caramel through smoke, falling lusciously over large crafted and classic, us house drums. the highs rush to move your ethereal thought while the lows move your guts.
pressed on to two slabs of deep dark and stylish wax.
repress !!! grant inaugurates his brand new label with a solo ep of sample heavy and hands in the air deep house. further releases will feature bootleg jams, edits and original compositions. vinyl only and so very essential.
grant002 delivers 4 tracks of airy, classic, deep-tinged house music. mixing up unofficial remixes with classic samples and original materiel, this time featuring chris gray on vocals on the track calibrate. 1 per customer!
following an incredible sophomore album for mörk and a stunning self-released white label, grant graduates to the lobster theremin main label with a full ep proper of signature studio deep house.
refined song-writing, valve warmth, studio air and dusty edges, grant’s production style has taken on a life of its own as he’s progressed from early split eps on the lauren bacall to entering the lobster fray. his influences, also showcased via his temporary state label, are worn on his sleeve albeit with a unique sonic quality and structured tension & release that is mastered by so few over such a lulling, woozy template of sound.

THE FOREVER BOB EP (TERRI FRANCIS, ALLISTER & HOLDEN, FATON DOLAKU REMIXES)
12" Vinyl UK09.05.16
the forever bob ep is a requiem to bob de rosa by his long time close friends and collaborators grant dell, terry francis, mark allister and faton dolaku. these recordings draw on fond memories of their time spent with a man who lived for underground dance music and is rightly regarded as one of its true originators.
the forth inline on giant is again from grant dell this time grant take us on a deep dive into the realms of a trippy moog lead madness, on – the way we feel – filtered out dub stabs evolve around a timothy leary inspired spoken word – dark heady madness.
from deep within the shadows, grant steps out with his debut album *the acrobat* on enigmatic label the lauren bacall. lush atmospherics lift up each of the high-flying tracks on *the acrobat*, crafting a sense of euphoria and ease that is reminiscent of such deep house from late 90s early 2000 inspired by labels such as early plastic city, deep4life, and svek.
after making a great impression with its first ep, giant records serves up a second hot helping of house music from boss man grant dell, complete with fresh remixes by scottish techno stalwarts silicone soul. dell, also known as chicago transit authority, has been doing his do for 25 years now. as a dj he is at home in clubs in ibiza and barcelona as well as around the rest of europe, and is someone who always prefers to push his own brand of widely infused and influenced music than his own profile. once again here he comes up trumps with the emotive, glowing house cut ‘in your mind’. with a neat bassline and mid tempo house drums, subtle but effective synth smears add warmth and colour to the groove, whilst soul fuelled vocals add a real sense of personality. this is sure to get people grooving at any hour and comes with grant’s own space echo remix. as the title suggests it’s a more dubby and reverb rich affair with cosmic signifiers and sci-fi vibes pervading from start to finish. silicone soul need little introduction having been at the heart of real deep house and techno for decades on the soma label. their first remix is a darkroom dub - named after their own label - and is a seductively slo-mo and lazily unfolding house cut with languid synths that really suck you in. their lush hypnohouse mix is then a twinkling, late night bit of melodically rich deep house with starry skies twinkling above sombre chords. this is a patiently served but hugely alluring ep that is stuffed with plenty of tender feeling. one again then, both grant and giant have come up with the goods.
gable & grant are joined by harlow in this next instalment of the diaries volumes. on the third release they explore more rolling, pacy grooves whilst still maintaining that familiar brand of melancholic, washed out nostalgia. the b side here is a proper floor burner with a choice vocal sample mixed in for good measure.
vinyl only release, ltd to 500 copies
i didnt mind what she called me, what anybody called me. but this was the room i had to live in. it was all i had in the way of a home. in it was everything that was mine, that had any association for me, any past, anything that took the place of a family. not much: a few books, pictures, radio, old letters, stuff like that. nothing. such as they were, they had all my memories and no one could disturb this private peace.
two deep jams with a dashing black & white mystique around them. check the b-side: late night club appeal! what it felt like to be so wanted, so adored. no one had ever felt like that about me. it was all so dramatic. always in the wee small hours when it seemed to me that the world was ours - that we were the world.
when two talented international producers such as tato and andrew grant get together and join forces, not even superstition that could surround the ominous 13th mallorcan tato - head of the label isgud - and yankee andrew grant are two of the main players for the ibizan club dc-10 and the well known italian party circoloco. oblack - the label from los pastores - united them on this ep and the result is.. carry on reading. the point is that with rewayna, tato, and with the collaboration of the tech master andrew grant, he gives a new twist to this underground house without concesions that characterize his sound.
after first meeting stef smith aka lakosa at a birmingham warehouse rave back in 2010, the 2nd drop camp have been keeping an eye on this burgeoning talent, especially as he has popped music out on kerri chandlers madtech imprint among others. co-producer rick grant is 1/3 of take records and with releases on george fitzgeralds manmakemusic label, another key talent making moves this year. and despite having never met each other (they communicate via email and bass frequencies), it seems that when they collaborate the magic happens.
the small, exquisitely formed take records maintain their reputation for tracks that elegantly live their life on the peripheries of house and techno with this release from one of the labels co-owners, rick grant, and a fine cabal of remixers. the west london-based producers original mix adopts the full widescreen effect, cascading deep bass throbs and a trembling metallic clatter across a ponderous 2-step click. consequences reworking wires in some heavy-ass sub-bass transmissions and a rapid-fire hi-hat rhythm, before jack dixons late-night submission takes a clockwork 4/4 tempo and bolts a springy, low-slung bassline to it, accompanied by layers of velvety synth patterns. crossing is an ep of uniformly consistent quality, where texture and atmosphere take the spotlight.
evren ulusoy, the confirmed master of the deep delivers up the second release on i records 2012 vinyl 12 series. in this edition we feature evren s modern day tale history of love . this is of course told in his undeniable sophisticated deep house style. pushing the release further are remixes...
a fantastic mid-60s album from grant green, but one that never got its due originally, because it was unreleased at the time – and didn t come out until a japanese issue during the 70s.
original analog sound on finely selected 180 gram vinyl.
played at dc10, watergate, panoramabar!vid is a new project by romanian young talent sorin rastoaca who mainly has released techno and house as egal 3 in the last few years. here he teams up with his friend, the circoloco monday night resident andrew grant for some refreshing beats.
freeze dried is the brand new label from the one and only grant nelson, with this new venture focusing on a deeper shade of beats... although refusing to be pigeon-holed, the labels brief is kept quite simple, fitting between a fusion of disco & deep house, the music quality is as you would expect the very highest quality! the opening release is a perfect snapshot of this, with the infectious nu-disco flavour of >time ties< kicking off the package, on the flip >not that same< goes a little deeper in the mix, with a melodic yet uplifting hook that has already been getting some serious exposure out in the ibiza sunshine.
plenty of high profile dj support has surrounded this release: giom, richard earnshaw, miguel migs, graeme park, soulmagic, tedd patterson, danny j lewis, kiko navarro, charles spencer, roog (hardsoul), ricky morrison, gavin mills (copyright), deepcitysoul, scott wozniak, dj jask, martin ikin (soul purpose), cj macintosh, random soul, andy ward, shane d, gilbert le funk, danism, dj mfr
francesco grant has become an institution of the finest techno/house tracks on afu and way beyond and returns with his fourth release and three brand new tunes.
>dont scream< is a prime time piece that delivers with its cool funky rhythm bed and the cut up samples that became so much of francescos trademark.
>everybody love me< takes his style even further with vocoded vocals and >still here< rounds it up with some mental ladies voice and a fat groove! enjoy the ride ...
man make musics second release is a collaboration between two talented londoners, jack dixon and rick grant. having already made waves with individual releases on labels such as brownswood, hypercolour and take, these two good friends now offer up a pair of brilliantly off-kilter house tracks. >running man< is a heady mix of skipping percussion and caressing juno synth-lines, whilst, on the flip, >muted< takes a more understated, melancholic turn, counterbalancing the ecstatic nature of the a-side. jack and ricks contributions are also offset by kevin mcphees weird and wonderful slow-mo interpretation of >running man<. the remix blends vocals drenched in reverb with creeping piano riffs and shows yet another musical side of a man garnering plaudits from all corners for his unique style.
the wait is over ... the bomb has dropped! since grant dropped the classic mix at this years southport weekender back in may the phones havent stopped ringing for this one! if it wasn’t huge enough the last time out, the brand new remixes courtesy of none other than code reds own dj spen, delecto recordings christian alvarez & solar sounds honcho rob hayes have taken the track onto a whole new level – the classic is back, so hold on tight!
support by dapayk, martin landsky, dj sneak, kisk, toby dreher, brothers vibe, andre kronert and many more.
amazing dancefloor aiming bombs. a journey into a mixup of house, techy electronic, jazz and funk. collaboration with pezzner, aki bergen, markus schmahl and others are only the pike of the iceberg. he is one of the unique acts who isnt afraid of mixing styles, genres, vocals, feelings and rhythms. mastermind scope made a huge oldschool sounding house bomb and eelke kleijn metamorphosed the original into a floor bombing and dark sounding, dancing monster.
