looking back at the influences from his recent full circle project, alexis le-fan (best know by some as le-tan), winds the clock back even further to his roots of trance. call it proto-goa if you like, these three tracks show a panel of sounds that could ve received airplay in the early 80s on the beaches of anjuna or vagator. standing on the edge is shoegaze gone tribal disco, up and down is new-wave with an ethno-indo twist, whilst love to hate is new-beat led by hypno synths a warped sax and freaky vocals which will ease you in the wee hours of the morning sun

raised in haifa, israel, now located in amsterdam, this duo of sonic explorers have had acclaimed releases on a host of cult labels like psychostasia, underground quality, dekmantel & many more. having already released the incredible *release the golem pt. 1* & *jewsex* on everyones favourite nyc label, the pair make ready with their most claustrophobic and menacing outing yet. the original version on the a side stays in the same tempo territory as their dekmantel classic *african flower* but concocts a much more spacious and heady atmosphere, reminiscent of mark gages vapourspce project. side b takes us directly to the dancefloor, utilising the same bubbling bass sequence but transposing it onto a devastingly propulsive rhythm track, like the angry cousin of their *bleached roots* and *powow* classics. a formidablle force in modern dance music, at the height of their powers!

a long time coming, the first ep from the mysterious duo bernadott finally reaches us. the golem first heard those tracks last summer and noticed his body was moving beyond his control! he therefore decided he should immediately enroll these beat-smiths before the competition took notice. introducing bernadott, the roof of love ep showcases the talent of two underground producers hailing from paris and stockholm, two diggers of the highest order, immersed in musique concrete, italo, free jazz, punk, chicago house and such, two djs devoted to tension, hips & shoulders. with upcoming releases on high profile labels, the golem proudly takes them to the forefront first, unleashing their highly original and leftfield take on the dancefloor. on side a, bernadott turns a white funk forgotten gem, expands it before turning it into a gherkin-esque acid burner with unexpected nods to juke, subtly returning to its post punk roots before you even notice. the golem also wanted to have a nice tune to share with his girlfriend, and he got his wish with side b, another post punk affair autistically turned into a dubby madchester piano choon, a quasi absurd but groovy breezy love song

cursor miners fourth studio album >requires attention< is his most coherent and accomplished record yet. featuring the singles >mad cow< (which spent 2 weeks on the dmc update chart) and >luna< (currently picking up radio play from huw stephens (bbc radio 1), nick luscombe (bbc 6 music), john kennedy (xfm) and more), it combines everything that is good and great about cursor miner, which is basically just about everything.

this obscure lost soundtrack for an even more obscure (and also lost and never finished) italia violenta cop movie was recently discovered when i bought the dusty reel tapes from a restaurant owner in fiumicino, a seaside town near rome. panter 777 aka il labirinto di roma violenta aka the maze of violence, he told me, was directed by gervasio giardano in 1981 and was considered too (politically) explicit by the movie production company who dropped the project after the first screening. the soundtrack, an explosion of wahwah funk riffs and juicy analog synthesizers, was composed by an obscure band called nacho patrol. the restaurant owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of the band members and composed most of the tracks. after their robot-pop hit with eurostar sebastien tellier, principles of geometry weirdo beardos come back with a new version of interstate highway system. then poni hoax deliver their first official remix, putting their hands on the fierce and epic prophet. but the most epic of all tracks on this ep is certainly eat s remix of golem. eat comes from berlin where they released a few >extra-ordinary< eps on their diamonds & pearls inprint, occasionally releasing tracks by their friends henrik schwarz or ricardo villalobos. think the globins meets lindström meets carl craig. last but not least, young frenchies fieldtripq made an oldschool electronica mix of colfax, close to early autechre stuff.
