zwei jahre lang hat der in san francisco beheimatete produzent giraffage in seinem schlafzimmer an seinem debütalbum gewerkelt, das von seiner persönlichen reise der selbstheilung erzählt, bei dem jeder song eine andere periode in seinem leben repräsentiert. kaleidoskopische beats und verträumte synth-pop- und r&b-melodien umrahmen das neue werk, bei dem japanese breakfast, body language’s angelica bess und viele andere mitgewirkt haben. der sohn zweier taiwanesischer einwanderer ist schon früh zur musik gekommen - einer deutlichen abweichung der sonstigen kulturellen erwartungen innerhalb seiner familie. doch schnell schaffte er mit ganz speziellen remixen seiner r&b-lieblingslieder, die im internet regelrecht explodierten, den aufstieg vom regional bekannten act, der bloß in kleinen auskennerblogs beachtung fand, hin auf die bühnen der weltweit größten festivals.

editions mego is proud to present the latest opus from legendary british composer, actor, sound designer and all round fine human simon fisher turner. giraffe is a new major work which blurs the lines between sound design and song, machine severity and narrative sentimentality. subtitled living in sounds and music giraffe take the listener through a vast journey where an abstract clacking of unknown origin rubs up against a melancholic electronic sequence. life sounds were captured with a portable hard disc recorder and i-phone and appear alongside contemporar sound design. emma smith provides the narrative on slight smile whilst electronic machines grind amongst background industrial klang in mud larks .save as revolves around a beautiful simple piano motif which soon folds into an unnerving field recording and drone combination.

juni is the first joint release by charly schoeppner and sascha demand, two seasoned veterans of experimental and improvisational music. they call themselves giraffe. their longstanding friendship has now propelled them into making juni. juni contains 11 short pieces that effortlessly flow in and out of each other. intuitive, yet controlled, subdued, yet at times nervously ritualistic, percussive elements drive the tracks with melodic and harmonic impulses weaved around them. the record references abstract jazz and contemporary experimental music. it is an original snapshot of what makes contemporary experimental music tick.

san francisco producer charlie yin has made quite a name for himself turning bedroom beats into dance floor staples as giraffage. his beloved r&b remixes and vibe-laden solo tracks have won early praise from pitchfork, the fader, xlr8r and other tastemakers, all while he seals the deal live with lush, bass-driven performances at low end theory, boiler room and gigs around the globe. we are happy to have him join the fools gold fam. limited pressing on multi-color vinyl.
