in case you felt like losing your mind in self-isolation, stomping grounds is back with four cuts to bring back your sanity. this is the first time we are putting together a split ep, shared graciously between romanian duo heerd and irelands noah skelton. starting off with the acid-edged peak timer >hellrot<, going through the atmospheric depth and hypnoticism of >kamaals groove< and >persistence<, the ep is neatly finished with a healthy >balance< of rolling hats and percussion.

one half of the junior boys, jeremy greenspan makes his second appearance on jiaolong with the aid of none other than legendary, algorithmic composer, laurie spiegel. those not familiar with her work, spiegel is best known for her use of interactive and algorithmic logic as part of the compositional process, spiegel worked with buchla and electronic music laboratories synthesizers and subsequently many early, often experimental and prototype-level music and image generation systems. in the mid 80s, her most widely used software was the music mouse. here, greenspan works her piece >drums< into a confident dj tool, rolling steadily with angular electronic effects over a solid, weighty pulse. >sirius shake< employs a classic kompakt-style schaffle beat, mapping a curious robotic waltz.

atr is a one of a kind reggae collective based in parkside brooklyn. founded by scrillamatic and kg, at their core they are just group of friends who hang out in the park and sing, all day. the routine is simple, they meet up at their favorite hangout spot on the side of a lake, play beats off of a beat up but loud stereo, and belt out lyrics out into the air. sometimes a crowd gathers but it’s usually just a few like minded artists sharing their love for music. natives of the west indies, but coming of age in brooklyn, they have a very unique perspective on life and the world we live in. with subject matters varying from traditional roots medleys, smoked out ganja anthems to gangsta badman chants to heartfelt soulful ballads telling tales of the ghetto and more, they have a lot to say.

it is common knowledge toby tobias used to rule the coasts of ibiza with his balearic iron funk! now back on his home turf of london, toby has chosen the cosmic pint glass to tell us the story sun, sea and madness! a room for babette is a balearic house funk bomb filled with sandy frolics and a touch of mayhem. afterwards we hit the romance button. touch meh is a one of the smoothest edits to be given the toby treatment and on the flip ptaki take you on an amazingly beautiful 12 minute journey around the islands with their a room for babette remix complete with dolphins! :)

the next release on lag is from bay area to berlin transplant jamaica suk. the kontort ep (lag006) is another 3 cut record with all original music. the title track kontort is a composition with the big room in mind with thunderous kicks and bass with intricate panning and dub inflections. holographic is a another big room techno workout with a deliciously infectious piano line which allows the producers personality to shine through. depth between waves is a dub techno roller. this track shows restraint till the break then re-emerges with a synth sound that pushes the groove forward in a simple yet undeniable manner.

markus fix & dorian paic come with three beautiful outstanding tracks to release the 006. markus already released on epilog in 14 and now he comes back with dorian, which is a huge honor for our little guild !! the first time we were listening to the tracks, we were blast away! this is exactly what epilog wants/searches/is. because their tracks are produced with love and smart, cleverly devised of experimenting and detail conscious…no tricks no gimmicks..

crossing back on the floor. avion delivers 2 new techno slices packed with mastermind remixes by tripeo and blind observatory. the release starts with the ‘intro‘ which brings up the mood of the record with futuristic signal bleeps and a warm analogue pad surrounded by kicking and stuttering percussions. the original of ‘centum‘ starts slowly to bring up heavy bassline surrounded by bright noises and alternating noise swirl verbed to voices highlighting partial explosions to end with bleep and soft strings. crossing 006 this time welcomes two fantastic artists as remixer and lays down ‘centum‘ to tripeo and blind observatory for their re-­&#8208,,interpretation. tripeo stays on the rough and kicking side of techno and delivers with his interpretation packed with the original strings and an analogue synth noise accompanied by a straight drumwork and cutted hi hats a kicking weapon for the floor. the myterious blind observatory takes the vibe of the original and pumped it with an acid bass to create a parallel universe built by dreamy strings highlighting the rides to lose control in the perfect moment. a real dancefloor killer.

seth troxler and the martinez brothers’ tuskegee music continues to deliver the goods behind releases from kool d, ex-trouw resident william kouam djoko and seth himself. now on their 6th release, tuskegee present a new collaborative effort between the martinez brothers, jesse calosso and phil moffa who - operating under their new production alias soundview, piece together a tribute to rob fernandez.
