hauschkas first releases of 2012 come in the form of two stunning remix 12 inches that are pitched at the dancefloor and kick off a wider project of reinterpretations of his last full-length. here, ep1 sees two serious heavyweights of minimal techno delivering very different, yet complentary versions. this 12 inch is the first of two vinyl-only eps, running in advance of a full album of electronically-angled remixes of >salon des amateurs<.

finally we get a re-issue of the first release on the legendary fat cat label. harking back to the days when the record shop ruled supreme south of the border, this release is somewhat different from the following releases on the label. pure techno music, kind of early dan curtin metamorphic meets ken ishii with a heavy nod to kenny larkin. a techno landmark! official press with original artwork and shrink wrapped picture sleeves.

milk maid is martin cohen from nine black alps. they were discovered by jack cooper of mazes, who released a single on suffering jukebox before they were signed by fatcat records. the whole album was recorded on martins 8-track in his flat in manchester. reference points include mazes, woods and the woodsist label, the shins, guided by voices, oasis, jesus and mary chain.

boundary-pushing, thrilling, unique: psychedelic horseshit blaze with a vitality reminiscent of fatcat alumni animal collective and black dice in those bands early, wildly creative incipience. laced marks a forward stylistic shift for the band, delivering a coherent set of bustling, hookladen, melted outsider pop songs. keeping a step ahead of the lo-fi scene they christened -shitgaze-, theyve drawn on a broad range of influences instead of the xeroxed anorexia of many of their peers, have ruffled feathers by critically speaking out, and carved out caustic, humorous social commentary.
