new ep from ethyène showcasing a raising maturity in his discography. drawing samples from library music, dub, soul and r&b, this record delivers everything house music has to, deepness, groove, love and sincerity. no need to say that by launching a new imprint ethyène decided to show a different side from his previous work. we can definitely feel it from the first second the record starts, with static, mashing up samples from 80 s dub music and west-coast funk to finally sound as a surprising modernized classic house anthem. the second track of the record enove lough features a deconstructed and mysterious rhodes loop delivering a smart groove until a delightful sexy vocal sample get in the mix to round off this deeper but easily danceable cut. the b-side of the record starts with cape town mambo , a tune whose graceful horns loop keeps the listeners on an endless dreamy trip while its mid-tempo jazzy beat will have them hips sensually shaking without any doubt. the record has its consistency assured with ending on a 100 bpm powerful hip-hop beat with high-pitched and happy vocals as the nirvana of this 4 tracks sensual and groovy journey.

london born paul rose’s career has been intrinsically linked to hotflush recordings, the label he set up in 2003. coming back full circle to his formative mid-90s days of following colin faver and jeff mills, rose’s fabric appearances have evolved over the years from bass music fridays to the house and techno of saturday nights. this 10” sampler, taken from the 90th instalment of the world’s leading house and techno mix series from london’s renowned fabric nightclub features two tracks from fabric90 scuba mix, both taken from scuba’s own label, hotflush.

scubas entry in the revered fabric mix series features four debut-making artists, three of whom, isaac reuben, glaskin, blursome, feature on the present sampler 12inch alongside the already-emerging talent of tallmen785. together they cover a rich gamut of style. tallmens gear-shifting opener a charge of the techno brigade replete with live drum fills leads into blursomes compact, broken, nocturnal outcry. isaac reuben then messes with structure and genre, bringing deep house tropes into a lofi, rough and raw world before glaskin blow the door wide open right at the very end to reveal their cavernous, ultra deep field. you’ll be hearing a lot from all of them on hotflush in the coming months, so for now let the music break the ice

classic sounding track by two long going and respected techno heads.. fabrice lig and titonton. these guys take it back to the early nineties when techno was still fresh and new... the days that titonton and dan curtin were debuting with their sophisticated techno sound. raw funky 909 percussion, bleepy analogue synths and great warm string sounds and beautiful melodies. purist techno tracks that never go out of style and reminds the old blokes why we loved techno in that period so much. and it shows the young cats that there is more then the standard dj tool techno! beanfield is on remix duty here... and he delivers an updated modern dancefloor friendly house version with a great string section that reminds a bit of knights of the jaguar and a killer bassline after the break. check!
