for our fifth release we invited four of our favorite producers to take turns in remixing ken karter’s latest ep on our label. stanislav tolkachev, inland, alfredo mazzilli and array access all managed to apply their own characteristic sound, resulting in a remix ep that could not be more versatile.

deep heads are very proud to present escapism refuge s album hold , the deluxe vinyl edition. it contains the full 13 tracks originally released at the end of 2017 with an added 5 tracks previously unreleased. 2 of the tracks are exclusive to the vinyl purchase that will only be available on download card that is foud inside each vinyl. there are 2 remixes in total to the deluxe edition, the first coming from none other than r&s / apollo records very own synkro. he put s a beautiful twist on the track fly away featuring chari brix and takes the record to new dimensions. the other remix of mistakes comes from nottingham s finest, congi. it s a 140bpm roller that packs a serious punch. the subs are blazing and beats are full & beefy. bravo congi, bravo! 1 of the previously unreleased tracsk is dream fly by the man himself. a little more experimental than his usual stuff, but is pretty incredible all the same. then the last 2 are secret for now, you ll have to grab yourself a copy and find out from the download card ,)

despite his low profile, ken karter might be one of berlin s most influential artists in the techno scene. karter is known as a mastering engineer for the seminal m_rec ltd, however his own productions have gone largely unnoticed until his 2015 ep on stroboscopic artefact’s monad series. his ep turned heads and gained him well-deserved attention. two years later, his follow-up ep on escapism exemplifies his focus on quality over quantity. his passion for mathematical formulas combined with his intricate knowledge of sound created an outstanding record set to satisfy both fans of experimental and dancefloor techno.

south africas escapism refuge returns to londons smokin sessions with the on the fence ep, following his previous effort for the label the highly acclaimed vol. 31. a-side and title track on the fence is an understated and subtle effort, carrying with it an introspective and moody set of harmonies and chord progressions. its a quietly uplifting start to the ep, and the tracks lead melody will remain stuck in your head for days. the b1, almost eight does things differently by incorporating elements of classic ruff sqwad-era grime with an updated and crisp set of modern day production techniques. the ep’s last track, dust, uses a deep and propulsive bass line, which is augmented by escapisms now signature use of fleeting vocal samples. its a powerful ending to a heavyweight and emotionally-charged ep from escapism refuge. escapism refuges previous efforts have gained impressive dj support from across the scene, from figures such as compa (deep medi), synkro, gilles peterson, lefto, joe kay (soulection), don letts, tim parker, n- type, phaeleh and many more.

alexey volkov first appeared in the techno scene in 2011. his past releases on the semantica and jealous god labels have gained alexey and his music widespread acclaim. since his debut, alexey has been busy crafting and perfecting his sound. his origins in punk and industrial become apparent in his new ep for escapism. he continuously proves that his assertive yet refined style is worth the hype as unconventional rhythms and unsettling sounds dominate the tracks.

sam gellaitry is ready to present the third chapter in his escapism saga: a coming-of-age trilogy that demonstrates the young prodigys unique, filmic musical productions. hot off the heels of the previous two escapism instalments, escapism iii sees sam gellaitrys sound transcending, invoking a cinematic feel of technicolour-esque scope to his experimental production.

following up the inaugural release by glos, escapism 002 is a mesmerizing two- tracker by one of leipzig s most talented producers, talski. he is part of the institut fuer zukunft crew, co-runs dur records and also performs rare live sets together with his friend perm as pandt. soothsayer shows why analogue production skills are still highly appreciated in contemporary dance music. by limiting himself to only a few machines, talski manages to create addictive and reduced tracks that focus only on the essentials. this comes especially apparent on soothsayer i which although stripped back, builds tension, has atmosphere and is driving. soothsayer ii is more evolved. straight enough to keep people on the dance floor, yet with a fragile and melancholic beauty to it, that sticks with you long after leaving the club.

ocad is a label established in 2016 by toke klinke and rebecca broe that empahsizes high quality and originality in electronic music.

filou brings the 9th vinyl of the romanian label escapism musique. with two original tracks, revolt and golden black, filou ascends proportions of the tech sounds in complex tracks that gets the listener into motion. cristian burkhardt transcends the tones of revolt into a symmetrical harmony that vibes up with the sheer, meanwhile ed ed enthuses through his play with cheer and rhythm, ending the release in a dancing mood.

escapism, the berlin party series, steps over the threshold into label territory after putting on quality techno nights in the german capital for more than two and a half years. kicking off the label is the polish born and berlin-based glos, who is well known for his work on ressort imprint. on prayers three original tracks showcase his love for ambient music, as well as intelligent techno and sound design. belgian newcomer border one (wolfskuil, stockholm ltd) is in charge of remix duties, taking the slow churning groove of collapse and transforming it into dance floor focused material.
