this is the second 12inch from taken, the duo effort of elias landberg and nihad tule.this is the second 12inch from taken, the duo effort of elias landberg and nihad tule. the duo has done a local show at under bron in stockholm as well as herrensauna in berlin, this new ep sounds inspired and fresh as their live sets, setting the course straight away. the reminiscent sounds of techno s adolescence goes everything but unnoticed as the reduced and powerful cluster on the a-side showcases taken s ambitions. going into deeper territories, the b-side elysia almost smells of strobes and smoke machines for the eye-opening moments of a proper party. with this new ep from taken, the sounds have really developed and show their excitement for things to come, from their almost three year debut on skudge records. this is a keeper!

freerange welcomes italian via berlin producer/dj/label boss enzo elia for his debut on the label entitled the lost guitar tapes. enzo is someone who has been releasing consistently great music for many years, although often hidden behind a myriad of pseudonyms and underground imprints.

this is selected - four tracks - five artists.

in 2007, renowned french producer julien jabre tracked down the american gospel singer phyliss mckoy joubert on myspace. joubert was already a cult figure for house aficionados thanks to -stand on the word-, a song she wrote and performed with her -celestial choir- in 1982 that became a staple of the club scene in new york. it resurfaced as a mysterious bootleg in 2000. julien, who d fallen in love with the song, was eager to remix and officialy rerelease it. when he finally reached out to phyliss, she explained the multitrack tape had been lost. the only thing to do was rerecording it-along with 10 other tracks. today on french label elias, julien and the joubert singers are releasing -stand on the word- in its original and unique 1982 version (mistakenly named after larry levan) and 3 brand new mixes including a fresh dimitri from paris remix. that s how the good lord works!

with summer just round the corner, hell yeah come up with some essential—and fully, officially licensed—new cuts from balearic gabba sound system edit master enzo elia. he touches up some historic italo house with his usual masterful touch and will have you yearning for boat party season before the tracks have even finished playing. if you loved the italian s take on soft house company what you need, you should go crazy for this new offering. up first is italo-piano-house classic morenas s hazme sonar, which is eight minutes of diva vocal athletics, big synths and pumping retro drums that will make you punch the air. fun and fulsome, it is a sure fire classic house winner this summer. jazzy doll s ladybird is next and in enzo s hands becomes a rubbery, ducking and diving house cut with big hand claps, bubbling bass and loose limbed percussion that is ripe for raves on the sea.

reissue of elias rahbani & his orchestras super rare arabic disco holy grail *liza liza* on the original lebanese voix de l orient label. recorded pre-civil war at a time when beirut was known as the paris of the middle east, a luxurious holiday destination and flourishing trade centre. the title track is totally out of this world, perfectly blending eastern & western vocals, instruments and musical influences with a driving disco bassline to create an irresistible floor filling cosmic odyssey. the flipside features the even more out-there *from the moon* a fantastic tripped out psychedelic disco funk monster, followed by the dreamy accordion-led *summer love*. also boasting one of the sexiest covers in disco history further illustrating the liberal thinking and western influence in lebanon at the time. highly recommended!
