electric minds began as a london based promotion outfit in 2007 before subsequently launching their label under the same name which is designed to act as a platform for their guests to showcase their productions. over the years they have amassed a lauded back catalogue of releases which has featured the likes of move d, endian, radio slave and mark e. now, in the follow up to their latest release from last magpie which featured trevino on remix duties they ready their next release from hypercolour mainstay shenoda. originally hailing from cambridge, shenoda is an artist who has astutely touched on many basis across a multifaceted back catalogue. releases on fear of flying, manmakemusic and hypercolour offshoot losing suki have seen him meld garage, house and techno whilst all the while keeping his eye firmly on the needs of the dancefloor.

last magpie makes his electric minds debut with the *influences* ep in april. the eps three original tracks combine the producers knack for punchy uk club tracks with elements of the pioneering electronic music that have informed his music tastes. inspirations from classic hardcore, jungle and garage loom large on ep opener *mirdad*, while *pledge* takes things on an electro tip with nods to the sounds leading mid-2000s exponents. *i love me* juxtaposes light and moody elements for a heavier take on disco and chicago house, while the ep is completed by a sublime trevino remix, as the soulr boss reshapes *pledge* into the kind of tough, hypnotic house he has made his forte.

fold returns following a pair of impressive 2013 releases for electric minds and george fitzgeralds manmakemusic, with the london producer bringing his house/techno/uk bass hybrid sound to his second electric minds ep, the grasshopper lies heavy. a1, gully rattles along at a brisk 135 bpm, a raw yet versatile dj tool imbued with a sense of impending dance&#64258,,,,,,,oor mischief. the a2 dun kno then drops the pace down while pursuing a subtler, more melodic arc. on the &#64258,,,,,,,ip, b1 roy batty carries with it its namesakes sense of menace as its escalating synth stabs drive the track onwards. ep closer harlyns dub strips things down for the deepest track of the 12 inch, with folds love for dubbier elements of techno brought to the fore.

having dabbled with lower tempos of house and techno in recent years on his exit records imprint and convex industries, dbridges 4/4 alter ego vevit presents his debut ep for electric minds in the form of the nudge ep - where two varied cuts display his tactful use of restraint and release for club tools which, if put in the right hands, can alter the state of play on the dancefloor.

after years of honing his craft as one half of uk house duo homepark, newcomer fold continues his prolific run of solo work following on from his debut outing on george fitzgeralds manmakemusic imprint earlier this year with the slime ep. he now makes his first appearance on electric minds with the upstairs for thinking, downstairs for dancing ep armed with an arsenal of four tracks that are tailored to suit all moods of the dancefloor and that have already been given the thumbs up from the likes of joy orbison and midland.

after becoming an iconic figure at electric minds club events in recent years heidelberg�s move d is heading in the same direction release�-wise as he gears up for his second consecutive release on the label arm of the club night. the ever�-reliable bastion of disco�-inspired house returns to the fold with a sumptuous slice of melancholic psychedlia in the shape of �to the disco �77�. bliss�-inducing guitar strings meet ominous synth lines as the track organically ebbs and flows to a dramatic climax. a true master class in the art of delayed gratification. his previous hybrid minds ep for the label was his only release of 2012 and now has been re�interpreted by some of the electric minds extended family. retrofit head honcho jay shepheard opts for a classic piano�-house led offering for his remix of �got 2 b whilst former member of commix endian goes for a more refined approach for his version of the same track. join the dots founder duff disco takes the tempo down a notch with his groove�-laden re�-rub of �useless� to round off the diverse vinyl�-only package.

echer has been around for quite a while, producing under duffstep & duffdisco to great acclaim he has decided to step out of the limelight and into the shadows. more than a metaphorical manoeuvre, he has already made a name for himself as a manipulator of a cheeky sample and a producer not afraid to add some bombast to the often-linear world of dance music.

over the last three years move d has become a regular fixture at the electric minds parties. not only is he a highly skilled dj his productions are timeless and his extensive catalogue is testament to this.

matthias heilbronn is one of new yorks best and best-known dj/producers, and an international name in his own right. hes had worldwide house hits, including the massive its gonna be alright under the name deep zone in the mid-90s and more recently do it right on pokerflat, scooped a string of awards for his djing, production and editing, and is one half of m&j with dj joeski

next up on electric minds is croatias ilija rudman with two-tracker >cinematic behaviour<. coming from one of the leading players in the disco-boogie movement, both weapons here certainly have the showering of cosmic dust that gives the sound such rapturous dancefloor appeal.

starting in 2007 with a string of eps on munichs compost black label jay shepheard has gone on to release productions and remixes with a diverse range of influential labels including buzzin fly, rebirth, freerange, dirt crew and poker flat. alongside working with established labels jay also launched his own boutique label retrofit in february of 2010.since the launch retrofit has gone from strength to strength with reviews and features appearing on resident advisor,de:bug, juno plus, dj mag, pulse radio and dj history.

another first for electric minds, we present the debut 12 inch from endian. with follow up releases already signed to non plus and further label support to come we are sure it wont be too long before his music reaches a wider audience. we would like to let the music do the talking :)

such is the importance of russells contribution to the modern music scene that many consider his work to be untouchable but several modern day producers have carefully picked out key elements of his songs whilst recording entirely new and up to date soundtracks. yam who?, faze action, singer mary moore, nycs pocketknife have worked hard to create entirely new instruments and vocals with additional remix work coming from radio slave. in addition peter gordon who worked with arthur russell on many of the original releases has collaborated. adding his musicianship to the newly created cover of >go bang<. further collaborations from arthurs friends and musicians, steven hall & joyce kirby, also provide a new version of >lucky cloud< which is produced by nycs pocketknife.

jeremy duffy (duffstep) brings us back to the deep, the spacey, the atmospheric, the groove. imagine blockheads, fly los, fingathings, mount kimbies and von ds sound, slightly reduce the beat to the soulful side, add synths and mid/heavy weighted bass and your almost there. as well as releasing music on his own label, join the dots, duffstep sent a copy of his demos to electric minds and after hearing >close< we immediately got in touch to sign the single. the track is one of the most powerful productions were heard this year and proved its worth when we heard it played as part of duffsteps av show on cargos huge system. big beats with a huge bass line, close is a powerful track that crosses the border of house and dubstep. to compliment the track we commissioned hreno & the mole to provide their take with a stripped back house version. in addition yam who also steps up for remix duties providing a killer boogie track. touching dub step , house and boogie the 12inch provides 3 sounds from the different corners of todays dance music scene.

ilija rudman shouldnt need an introduction as for the last few years he has been releasing a constant stream of dance music under different guises. an analogue and vinyl purist his productions are always to the highest standard and electric minds is pleased to be working with the croatian producer once again. ilija delivers two bumper tracks for the a side of this release, most definitely a nod to the 80s boogie sound with both productions thumping with bass throughout. for the b side we welcome michael j collins who recently released his ep through electric minds alongside ly sander. since working with electric minds, michael has been extremely busy remixing for the likes of swayzak, moodymanc as well as releasing an ep for hypercolour and working on many more releases for several berlin based labels. michael brings his signature 4/4 house beats to the remix, a raw dubby and psychedelic house take on the original. all in all a great package that is sure to appeal to house and disco heads alike.

for the first release in 2010 electric minds present ly sander & michael j collins. with ly residing in geneva and michael in denver, it was soundcloud that brought the pair together through an appreciation of each others productions. independently both producers have a solid background in music. electric minds welcome both producers and look forward to the impact their ep will have on the ever changing house music community. all three tracks are mood inspiring productions, subtle and simple in places they will appeal to those that like their music deep and with a touch of soul.

mushrooms project are giorgio giri and marco lentano who met back in 2003. their inspiration has come from the idjut boys and the mateo & matos duet. in 2008 the pair had their first production signed by london’s bear funk records. hortly after a new demo arrived at electric minds who were quick to snap up their latest ep for the label. >space mushrooms<, >wilkommen< and >special guest in the camping< are newly created tracks with live instruments throughout. the baleraric and techy sounds provide an original and new sound for the ever growing house / nu disco scene. as an added bonus to this package a remix from toby tobias ( rekids, tiny sticks ) has been commissioned. . check out the sounds for yourself !

after a very long break afrobutt is back! many will recall the wonderful moments he brought us with offerings on big bear and noid. this time afrobutt jumps ship to the bright young things at electric minds. afrobutts life has been dedicated to two things and they are disco and butts. he spent the last 15 years researching these two subjects so he could then report his findings to the rest of his tribe. the journey has been a long one, but on his travels afrobutt would make recordings and rearrange them in way that would not offend the rest of his tribe. heres a 3 track ep tacking from the full length cd, shimmering in their full disco glory no stone has been left unturned to reach his goal of providing sexy, dubby disco music that will have you butt shaking at home or on a disco friendly dance floor.

electric minds are proud to have ilija rudman for their 8th release. ilijas repertoire is already extensive having had his productions released on labels such as rong music, infant/2020 vision, compost, love is war,deep freeze, bear funk and of course his own label red music which he runs from his base in croatia. his work has been recognised by industry greats such has greg wilson who commissioned his remix skills for his >after midnight< track as well as rave reviews in magazines such as idj, dj mag & mixmag.after that ilija and greg decided to do an original track under alter-ego , yolanta sy , the garden ep. ilija delivers two deep house disco tracks for electric minds. the a side >ocean colour< is reminiscent of metro areas early work and delivers a driving bass line with added synths to keep the track moving along nicely. for the b side ilija thurns out his remix skills on chaz jankels >youre too funky<. after hearing yam who?s original version ilija asked to remix this track to this package a double a side release. the remix brings a deep house

nice price deal !!! hailing from japan free disco moved to london two years ago and brought with him an ear for deep music. already an accomplished composer, record collector and disco selector when he sent out a demo of his new recordings it wasnt just electric minds that took note but also new yorks rong music where he will release later this year.. the a side >psychedelic symmetry< is a fast paced track made for the dance floor. heavy bass through out which is bound to find favor with the house heads as well as the lovers of the nu disco sound. the b side >hippe can dance with boogie< leans towards the cosmic with a spacey sound accompanied by live bass and keys.for this project we have commissioned our first remix with stevie kotey. kotey chose to remix >hippe can dance with boogie< creating a spacey disco excursion. he has added live percussion, new drums and replayed the synths so the full treatment from one of todays finest remixers

two well known london producers provide these 3 tracks, amazing edits from kid creole and two other lesser know disco tracks. the producers have added a nice modern to 3 disco jams and kept the music heads happy with their dj friendly format. already causing a stir with toby tobias, stevie kotey, faze action, yam who. prins thomas has also been dropping the test press at berlins weekend and other recent gigs.

electric minds present gatto fritto for their 3rd release. a talented musician and producer from north london, he has been steadily building a reputation through his releases on london based dissident. extending his repertoire further he brings another quality production to electric minds. the a side bursting the bubble is a nine minute jam with quirky sync samples, heavy bass and a change in direction half way through the track which is becoming a trade mark of gatto frittos productions. the b side radio b-92 did not make its place on the first electric minds release as planned, so they were delighted to have been able to include it here. it is a sync rich track taking inspiration from new yorks 80s electro scene, a perfect compliment to what is already a very strong 12inch release. house heads as well as the cosmic fans will appreciate both productions

yam who brings two new productions to super promising new uk label electric minds in his typically polished style. the aside wanna make luv is a pretty message direct from the off. a relentless fusion off synths stabs & vocoder action whilst the 80s electro phunk groove is totally banging & insistent, i think the bottom line is they re saying they want to do it but in a futuristic retro stlyee! the b side buzz reaction is one for all those crazy mid tempo hedonist playboy warehouse parties. perfect to be dropped in your disco ballrooms, full off twisted flute solos, italo vocal chants, afro percussion and one hell of a heavy bottom end. a leftfield balearic bomb is very soon about to drop somewhere in londons eastside!
