we re very happy to welcome the mighty historical repeater, for their first full ep. historical repeater is the collaborative project of ctrls and solid blake, and here they unload four tracks of supreme sonic quality. channeling the spirit of classic techno with high-level sound design, alongside tricky, raw electro that doesn t compromise, historical repeater arrive with a carefully distilled sound that stands out from the crowd. from the trance-inducing title track -scientific calculator- to the insistent, pulsing groove of closing cut -say nothing-, this record is especially characterized by its weird vox hooks and deft rhythms – underpinned by a swirling sea of dynamic, digital synthesis. in short, it s a belter! early support from ben ufo, perc, happa, randomer, anastasia kristensen, rebekah and more.

after a big contribution to our tenth release compilation back in 2014 (via his track “4×4&#8243,), defekt makes a long overdue full ep debut on earwiggle with his most overloaded 12” to date. while recently conspiring to make the first tinfoil album, he applies some similar grit here, while still retaining enough classic defekt components. displaying the full repertoire of his sound over 5 tracks – from tougher techno to acid to melodic electro to ebm – every one here is a killer in its own right. do not miss! early support from ben ufo, dave clarke, the hacker, boddika, boys noize, uvb, perc and more.

so, after a little break we’re back with a new release. this time we’re joined by the multi-talented production powerhouse that is swarm intelligence (aka simon hayes). landing heavy with four bruising techno cuts that each find their own unique way of taking your head off, ear017 is a bumpy journey through darker club flavours. ‘flatlands’ opens things up, reminiscent of the type of marching, granite-heavy brum techno of old – this is minimal in construction but maximum in its impact. move forward to ‘ground up’ where demonic, dissonant keys take the lead above a rattling midrange that sounds like a corrugated roof ready to fly off. opting for cleaner, elastic drum patterns on ‘tingla’, hayes swaps tense for dense, with a loud take on steppy techno, that’ll please fans of some of blawan’s earlier work. ‘skitz’ starts out an a more dub tip with a wailing, paranoia inducing hook and snaking rhythms, eventually joined by more hard-hitting broken kicks, leading us comfortably into oblivion.

nice price deal !!! fresh from a big 2010 that saw corrosion become many peoples candidate for album of the year, and a follow up 12inch with remixes from autechre and the black dog that brought even greater attention to the project, the next job for anodyne (colin cloughley) is to now release what is bizarrely his debut solo 12inch. while corrosion showed colins love for early black dog and warp records, this ep starts off with the more growling intent of destruction - a thundering techno/dubstep hybrid that brings together the rawest elements of both genres, punctuated by suitably eerie undertones and venomous bass-heavy snarl - a true club monster if ever there was one. a2 is a straight hitting acid/hoover attack that descends into all sorts of chaos - reminiscent of the power of polygon window coupled with the madness of spiral tribe, this is a track that quickly brings things into disrepute. on the b-side menace 808 revisits the electro/breakbeat rave sound with all sorts of twists and turns that eventually drops into a pure unashamed hands in the air breakdown, one for the fields and festivals this summer? you know it is. closing with the pacy, glitched up breaks of talon, anodyne proves once again that when it comes to haunting yet majestically uplifting dancefloor music, there are few better in the game.

• our next release sees the welcome return of dez williams. since his first ep on the label in 2013, a lot has happened for the welsh wizard. releases for shipwrec, bedouin, new flesh and bass agenda have followed, while his reputation as a killer live act has continued to grow. opening with lumphammer, dez harks back to a time when big, brooding basslines were king. add in whistling keys, tribal percussion and a few well-timed breakdowns, and you have what is surely one of his biggest tracks to date. order to fight takes a more aggressive route - a vocal-fused slab of raw acid, it leads nicely onto the flip, where kabin feeva s wild roaring synths are tuned specifically for the headstrong. work like crazy meanwhile, sees dez return to his roots with a bass heavy cut of crunched electro, doused in a dark filtered vox.

the return of faetch - four tracks of real 2016 techno earwiggle is the irish techno label from sunil sharpe following the earth-shifting faetch 1, which was played by practically every techno dj worth their salt, tibetan entity faetch returns for the next part in the ongoing saga. sturdy, rolling drums and fiery vocal bursts on jeidge signal early chaos on the a-side, moving onto the pure techno funk of wershif - a definite ear wiggler if ever we heard one. on the b-side faecel is tense, more heads-down fare, not at all dissimilar to cari lekebusch s classic early drumcode material. closing the ep is cargoe , where jittery broken rhythms ricochet off rave stabs and echoed vocals & sound fx. another crucial faetch four-tracker here, for fans of inventive dancefloor techno.

following the massive double pack compilation ‘eight wigglin ways to die’, earwiggle return with the debut of a fresh artist, faetch. although a new name on the scene, faetch s advanced take on harder edged techno is far from the work of a rookie it would seem. four tearing club tracks here that contain all the ingredients needed to move the party into another dimension: firing rhythms, strange sampling, manic synth programming, unique sound design... we could keep going. faetch 1 is simply a corker and strong addition to the earwiggle catalogue.

often overlooked in american techno history are the weird and wonderful flavours to have emanated from the mid-west over the years. no two finer exponents have there been than minnesotas paul birken and freddy fresh. their contributions date back to the early nineties when freddy was exploring the possibilities of extreme techno (via labels like labworks, experimental and his own analog) - an activity that paul took up a while later after debuting on woody mcbrides renegade communique label in 1996. teaming up for the first of two collaborations on this 12 inch, paul and freddy open with >the fate of thirty eight< - a belting slab of analogue techno, where machines shriek and squawk like possessed animals on the loose.

the veteran us producer continues the series he started in the 90s with a high-paced, pulsing slice of club techno.its not all high-octane thrills,either,and the offbeat electro of stained is also worth checking.
