2009 starteten eamon harkin und justin carter ihre partyreihe mister saturday night. diese entwickelte sich innerhalb kurzer zeit zu einer feierinstitution und ist aus dem nachtleben new york citys nicht mehr wegzudenken. mittlerweile sind die beiden bei der 250sten veranstaltung angelangt, was ü³r die zwei kreativköpfe ein willkommener anlass war, eine mix-kompilation zusammenzustellen, die einfach mal den moment festhõlt. so finden sich auf -mister saturday night, then & now- einerseits dance-tracks der letzten acht jahre, die für die partyreihe prägend waren, andererseits groovende entdeckungen der jüngeren vergangenheit, die für harkin und carter zum ausdruck bringen, wohin die ekstatische reise bei den nächsten 250 veranstaltungen führen könnte ... mit auf der kompilation vertreten sind bekannte namen wie faltydl, kerrier district und dennis ferrer sowie soul bros. inc, esb und mystic pleasure.

it’s not very widely known but, when he’s not digging for other people’s music to play out at the party, mister harkin spends a good deal of his time in the studio making some of his own. up to now, those efforts have made their way onto records for the always on point argot imprint in chicago and nyc’s own throne of blood. and although he’s djed at almost 250 mister saturday night & sunday parties since we got going in 2009, this is his debut release on the label. it’s made up of three spaciously sculpted club scorchers, ripe and ready for the power hour, and we’re super stoked to finally be able to share them with you.

mister saturday nights eamon harkin dishes out another dose of rocking revamps on this the second release from his subway series imprint. this time the throne of blood man takes three numbers which should be somewhat recognizable to discerning ears and mutates them into jams designed firmly for the dance floor. >party out of sight< is a superb re-work of the bill withers seminal harlem. this edit made its first mark a few years ago in an earlier guise on mp3 but has now been further spruced and improved for wax. >the better kind< stretches out joy divisions >means to an end< and underpins it with a rocking drum pattern whilst >turn up the funk< is an excellent re-work of the proto hip-hop number >shoot the pump< from back in the day. a real bumper package!
