martin müller aka youandme ist ein umtriebiger berliner dj, produzent und labelmacher. ein tausendsassa, der sein leben der musik gewidmet hat. sein imposantes gesamtwerk umfasst unter anderem releases auf ornaments, rotary cocktail, polymorph und cutz.me, aber auch auf illustreren labels wie rekids oder desolat. hört man sich durch den stapel der veröffentlichungen, fallen einem remixe von moodymann oder auch für radio slave und seth troxler auf. mit seinem debut auf drumpoet verzaubert er mit dem chicago-house inspirierten „all comes back“ mit den berührenden vocals von gjaezon. washerman und quarion liefern dazu remixe, die überaus tief gehen.

the second remix ep from maps of hyperspace’s “superspace” cd sees the ambient dynamics of “a sense of unity” emphasised in the versions rendered by off land and arjen schat. elwood throws in his reinterpretation with a superb minimal deep techno take. adriano wraps the excursion with a smooth dancefloor remodel of mikael’s unreleased “sky”.

folamour represents the present and future sounds of the disco/house hybrid, staying true to the glitterbox sonic philosophy. his tracks share the same production values as the timeless records from classic disco imprints in the late 70s, melodies are super-tightly harmonised, instrumentation is lively and the rhythms are designed purely for dance. ‘the power and the blessing of unity’ is almost a mini album, exploring all the facets of folamour’s sophisticated house and disco tendencies. the title track sparkles with brass stabs and a textbook swinging disco beat, ‘island of recent father’ breaks things down into synthy house goodness, ‘let’s grab some smokes’ channels a more contemporary low-fi sound and bringing it home with ‘home beyond the clouds’, folamour closes with uplifting house hooks and percussion. it’s a real trip.
