on the heels of last years moon temple ep, throne of blood co-founders vito & druzzi return with the two floor-ready vocal house jams featuring xavier, a veteran vocalist best known for his brilliant version of gimme the night by george benson released on erstwhile nyc disco imprint, a touch of class recordings.

its safe to say that without vito & druzzi, we wouldn’t be here today. indeed, along with the other members of the rapture (ever heard of them?) and james friedman, they founded throne of blood. our histories go hand in hand. after releasing classic albums on labels like sub pop, dfa, vertigo, and motown- and spending more than a decade touring the world with lcd soundystem, soulwax, the cure, interpol, and franz ferdinand to name a few- vito & druzzi have spent the last few years shifting their focus towards djing and production, building a studio in brooklyn and churning out the jams. its been a labor a love and were very happy to present you with the first fruits of their collaboration

gabriel andruzzi, multi-instrumentalist and core member of dfas beloved the rapture, debuts his solo moniker dj druzz vs. omega mus on his own throne of blood imprint. designed for maximum dancefloor impact, >apeman< reveals new shades of primal funkiness hitherto unexplored by man... the title track thumps along with a swagger in its step, while tambourines, deep toms and simian grunts rattle and shake into rhythmic abandon. meanwhile, audacious, finely-detuned synth acrobatics form the backbone of the track and evoke a sense of careening blindly through the jungle canopy.

joe claussell joined the mushroom house series! the new york city dj and music originator made one of his rare remixes. for the toy tonics series. claussell is a pioneer. blending african and brazilian rhythms with disco and house since the early 1990ies. inspiring the music world with his labels spiritual life music and ibadan records and with his legendary body & soul parties that he run for 6 years with francois k and danny krivit in nyc. for toy tonics he remixed an obscure afro funk song by german afro - kraut band karl hector & the malcouns and nicolas tounga, singer from burkina faso.

the second of two zentrum spinoffs is with us! as with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. octo octa, vito & druzzi, cooper saver and turbotito, and lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off jacques renault s debut lp, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. octo octas rendering of mi casa samba serves as a propulsive beginning thats as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. vito & druzzis take on faith runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way, it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. the b s remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that s not to say they re not bold. cooper saver and turbotito s redo of words has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. the lemonade boys close the ep with their vibey take on faith. pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original s sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. a fitting way to end both the 12inch and the summer.
