two new tracks launching the new irvine welsh book dead mans trousers the final installment in the trainspotting series. the a1 is a hypnotic acid work-out with a trademark sound produced straight out of paranoid londons studio complete with renton s musings over the top. on the flip you re sucked into a dark tunnel of renton s mind, rocked by a chance encounter with begbie. haunting pads intensify the monologue before a pulsating heartbeat of a kick comes through underneath. hand numbered 12inch with hand stamped effect artwork.

dmt 013 is philippe petit s first and only techno attack for 2017. the record starts with lose yourself (part i) , an atmospheric track with a groovy rhythmic pattern that builds into a menacing acid trip. it continues with one life , using some very clear dubby pads, snare and toms, its underlying baseline bringing a happy feeling to the e.p. lose yourself (part ii) is aggressive and hypnotic at the same time, its intricate structure leading the listener to a state of trance. the record ends with distant memories , a prime time techno cut with several layers of synths to cover all sound frequencies to devastating effect.

the latest crimes of the future comes from dimitri distant and lvrin, two emergent artists with a penchant for pitch black grooves steeped in the kind of acidic, wavey styles that cotf are consistently striking gold with. -blasphemy- is a powerful slice of reductionist acid that uses a bare minimum of elements to create a sinister atmosphere to strike fear into the hearts of unwitting dancers. -dead sunday- is no slouch in the creepy department either, its clattering beats and bubbly acid line straining against a tape-stretched backdrop of synthesizer malaise. -achromatic- switches stance to slow, undead electro soaked in embalming fluid and filtered through a b-movie veil for maximum guttural impact.

with its tenth dmt release, philippe petit drops energovill, a big room techno bomb driven by a repetitive synth pad and a dreamy distorted saxophone line that will leave nobody indifferent. philippe then strips down the track even more to deliver a dub oriented, beat-heavy version of the track. on the other side, ubx127, from the figure stable, is on remix duties: he takes the key elements from philippe s versions and turns the title track into an unforgiving minimal techno attack. philippe closes the ep and reworks energovill once again, this time into a melodic, atmospheric and dreamy beatless version.

scrape starts with a slow minimalistic acid bomb tones aimed to burn the dancefloor. side b continues with meltdown, a dub track where the chords slowly progress to their peaks, underlined by a heavy kickdrum. the e.p. finishes with flotation, keeping its core minimalistic concept, full of sub bass and high treble, reminiscing of early hood or mills.

arsat is the first argentinian telecom satellite launched into orbit. arsat gets the rocket ready to ignition: a repeated stabs loop manages the take-off with success. on remix duties, up-and-coming argentinian talent julixo delivers a jacking chicago-style interpretation of arsat. with beltran, the rocket starts its launch into space: although fast paced, the track brings some harmonious dubby elements and nice violins in the mix to calm down the expecting crowd: it s all going to be ok. formula ends the e.p. like a celebration of the satellite s geostationnary slot: a hard hitting, percussion driven, techno track where the stabs penetrate deep under your skin. not for the faint hearted!
