we are happy to welcome two new artists to rose records on our first real split record. rose 12 brings two pieces from chassé. the duo from belgium adds round bass and piano to send two deep and warm tracks into the game. on the other side, which is rose 13, you find two more crazy tracks which unite funky vocals with guitars – both from gledd a recent nice and surprising discovery for us from italy. we feel that the combination of both sides represent rose perfectly – a deep and funky mix.

history freely dilates and collapses on valgeir sigurðsson’s dissonance, his first solo release since 2012. its three large-scale works are haunted by the old western tradition, infused with the ethereal workings of electronics and sound manipulation.
dissonance treads elegantly along a fine line between traditional symphonic organicism and the fissures of the faltering structures of reality. it takes forward sigurðsson’s typically expansive, panoramic writing, and elevates it to a perpetual construction and deconstruction of time and space.
these are hardly his first experiments with the archaic technology of classical instruments, but here the distance between past and present is precisely what the music itself is designed to explore, and to distort.

benales opens the e.p. with radiate, a track where you can clearly hear his influences of the american school of 90s minimal techno. long time dj but new on the production side, this is benales first effort on vinyl. after his initial masterpiece on knotweed records (kw006) and a handful of releases on demented (hiss 1992) and krill, opuswerk is back on knotweed with displacement, a trippy, hard hitting, analogic techno attack: no concession on this one! gonzalo md has already delivered the goods on both knotweed (kw004 and kw011) and decision making theory (dmt 006), as well as a fantastic ep recently on extrasolar. here, with sharp oscillation, he keeps developing his unique style, producing a highly percussive, almost samba-like, piece of techno. label owner philippe petit closes the e.p. with indian summer, a track moving along a warm bassline, bearing some recognisable krautrock influences.

on the a side, *odissey* is an intense rhythmic techno burner filled with emotional pads, while on the b side *displace* entails a sustained-tempo detoxifying/explorative approach, with classic and detroit influenced pads. as remixers, zadig (construct re-form) re-interprets *odissey* incorporating dense and melancholic atmospheres without any groove loss, while plural (metroplex / separate skills) offers a stripped down version of *displace* with his essential signature sound. enjoy !

keith tuckers optic nerve persona returns with the timelapse ep. side a1 minimal detroit mix is a dark minimal mood beat pumped excursion into techno floor stumper. a2 time displacement mix is a completely different take with alternative beats creating a sort of shift in time. the tracks show tuckers growth and influence on electro and techno with his work in aux 88. side two one moment in time is a detroit sort of metroplex gem. tucker once again shows his melodic melodies and baselines that shows his love for detroit music and grooves. a highly thought out sequence of great sounds and string chords as only optic nerve does it. tucker has hinted many times that he has a lot of unreleased music from his metroplex days! b2. transient force records label owner as1 gives us a true electro mix which keeps alot of the original mix of one moment in time. the tone is a more electro clash techno mesh of urban beat programming for the electro heads.
