do you remember the amazing minimal synth song -computer mädchen- which was featured on the private records compilation -computered love- a while ago? the whole 1982 album -nur für mädchen“ get’s re-relased today. produced by el deux s gutze gautschi (founder and ex producer of dj bobo), distributed by private records this exclusive 250 copies limited edition including a bonus sticker and a foldout booklet.

el deux is the swiss electro-pop trio of gutze gautschi (guitar, vocals), steno onetz (bass), martin kraft (vocals, drum machine). formed circa 1981 in aarau by gutze and steno who played together in punk/new wave band fresh color aka frische farbe featuring a pre-yello dieter meier. gutze?s minimal electronic compositions did not fit the concept of fresh color, so they formed a new project with their live mixer, martin kraft, on vocals.

after a little re-branding, the underground pitch comes from the argentinian genius of electronics and analogue things - mister salah deux. this release in particular is about the great sound and unique formation. enjoy the second vinyl from theÿ. red coloured vinyl, full colour cmyk labels, outer sleeve with salah s photo, limited to 100 copies.

eye o is the convergence of a few bay area stalwarts—kevin woodruff, formerly of tussle, and jason schwartz - and “deux o & debut” is their first studio-recorded public offering. the five-track, fifty-minute- long lp is a weaving journey through a pastiche of styles that’re all nephews, cousins, brothers, sisters of one another. kraut-rooted motorik drums reconfigure into more complicated math-y patterns, razor-sharp dance-punk guitars stretch out and dissolve into dubby post-rock atmospherics, synth loops you’d more commonly find in house tracks get grafted onto fuzzy psychedelic breakdowns, hard rock licks lock into chunky industrial grooves.
less for dancefloor destruction and more for trippy weekenders, the instrumental record manages to both be a focused, cerebral, conceptual hunk of fat to chew on and a spaced-out, intuitive ride through the cosmos. for use during those off-kilter small hours of the night just as much as it is vision quests and introspective weekends. it’s rare that an outpouring of so much can feel so simple and sublime.
