detroit legend dj nasty a.k.a. detroits filthiest is coming out with a new release. a 4 track ep with a electro fusion in a manner like only the df can.
hijacked records detroit is feeling inspired after hearing new work from one of our favourite allies in techno, jules wells. we felt it was our duty to deliver this to the people, three new productions from jules with a guest remix from our own antwon faulkner. please enjoy - -silent orchestra.- the title track from jules really set the bar for this release. jules really understands story telling with music and this track transports you to a time in techno that was both hopeful and beautifully heart breaking. a persistent chord progression is wrapped in celestial synth harmonies filing up the space all around you and reaching in. that classic clap is underpinned with a touch of acid, creating an edge. at the 4:33 mark an enchanting and haunting sign wave tells a melodic tragedy. strings come in delicately but wash over you completely. this track is both stunning and devastating.
for alan oldham, artistic expression is a way of life, taking multiple forms and medi-ums throughout his lifetime. before he was ever known as dj t-1000, he was a published car-toon artist and radio dj in detroit writing press releases for underground resistance to get by. one day, underground resistance was in need of a last minute dj for their tour in aus-tralia, and a door flew open for alan oldham. with passport in hand he departed on his jour-ney as a dj, which little did he know would eventually span continents. influenced by every-thing around him, his work has dynamically changed and evolved along with his life. currently as an international dj living in berlin, his latest creation is the acidspace ep, released by elypsia records under the detroitrocketscience name. the traveler himself takes us on an intergalactic adventure, beginning with acidspace (8:48). with a steady beat and a unique blend of serene space sounds, this jam excites the imagination for the journey to come. it is followed by rocket to berlin (7:20), a subtle and intricate mix that entices one to enter the unknown. vesta system (6:22) finishes the ep off on a note that leaves lis-teners grooving and enjoying the ride. creativity and sweet sounds are what its all about for alan oldham. with his recent musical shift to mellower, sci-fi inspired jams, he continues to let listeners see for themselves.

STILL HOPE FEAT. ANTHONY ANAXAGOROU / WAAJEED REMIX
12 Inch 18.06.18
still hope is their second single and the follow up to motorway jam (their double a side with palms trax from late last year) which sees them collaborate with anthony anaxagorou, a british born cypriot award winning poet and essayist, whose poetry and fiction have appeared on bbc newsnight, bbc4, itv and vice. hearing his lyrics via their good friend simbad, secretsundaze connected with anthony and still hope is the fruit of their labour. the original is a potent and political spoken word piece delivered over a rolling house groove. definitely one for the deeper moments with its late night heady feel and full vocal not letting up. the poems in the heart floor version strips the vocal back and adds dramatic strings for a more direct dance floor approach. ex slum village detroit producer waajeed released a couple of killer eps in 2017 on his own dirt tech reck imprint so we had to get him aboard for the remix. his detroit hardcore dub does what is says on the tin and is a peak time slammer while his searching dub goes down a jazzier, spacey route with live sounding drums and dreamy pads.
on their first ep on their own label t&w records, tag & wandrach are releasing three detroit influenced techno bangers / powerful floor techno pounders
ast echoes ep is the title of the new instalment of chaval records, madrid label that after 15 references remains faithful and sensitive to techno sound originating in detroit, the artistic matrix of all the vinyls that has published the editorial platform of victor santana. this time madrilian producer entrusts the new ep of his record label to an emissary of the legendary motor city: brian kage.
leap is back! #006 of the catalogue offers two deep journeys by label operator a:lex on the a-side: “soul shower” cuts to the chase with dubby toms, shuffling hats, sharp-ass claps and an infectious warm synth progression that manifests that “body thang” referred to sample-wise. “long way to detroit” is a groover of a mpc-styled workout that stitches together various voices that comment on the city of cities all the while shuffling hard snares around a bubbling baseline - laid-back reminiscence guaranteed. the flip side features one hell of a funky jam entitled “places (live take)” ripped straight from a modular acid session conducted by the mysterious outfit richmond wagner. sparkling hats sprinkled over relentlessly warping bleeps and a thumper of a kickdrum will make crowds go off their heads during upcoming festival season as in any place alike.
dj soch presents the third volume of -kick tom & hi-hat-. the first track, * fight for love*, is a powerful raw groove in jacking style. when you least expect it, it turns into a dream traveling towards infinity, a poetic voice, the pad and the synth transform the track and take the dancefloor to another dimension, straight from mathematics recordings, giorgio luceri curates his remix, taking the arpeggio and buying a ticket for a techno trip to detroit, made of synths, pads and drums that remind us of carl craig productions. speaking of detroit, here comes * a friend from detroit* - it seems that dj soch know the way to our destination, with a super, detroit techno, stylish funk-bomb! vinyl only limited edition
next up in the kms remixes series kenny larkin steps up to the plate. 3 seminal remixes from the mid 90 s from one of detroit s true pioneers. re mastered and re released in conjunction with kms 2015.
