ltd 2016 repress - delusions of grandeur have had an exceptional couple of years since their inception in 2009 with fourteen vinyl 12s from a host of producers helping to put them at the top of the pile of underground labels making house music for discerning ears. it was only a matter of time before the label took the logical next-step into artist albums and here they are with the debut lp from 6th borough project entitled one night in the borough. its more than likely that youve come across 6th borough releases or edits on labels such as instruments of rapture, jisco or permanent vacation as well as having kick started the whole thing off here at delusions of grandeur with their release the soul part ii (under the aka craig smith & the revenge). its also more than likely youve been in some late night establishment whilst the revenge provided musical accompaniment on his record players seeing as he is one of the most in demand djs playing underground house and disco on the scene right now.

new years deal - following hot on the heels of tobys brilliant long player rising son we bring you a couple of our favorite tracks remixed by two of our favorite producers, namely i:cube and session victim. the versatile veteran nicolas chaix kicks things off in his own unique style on his interpretation of love affair with widescreen pads and subterranean clanks and growls setting things up for a heady house journey. session victim do their thing on slo flava, jacking up the tempo and turning in a bouncing live jam with a soulful edge. completing this ep we also have the two original versions of love affair and slo flava in all their glory.

new years deal - with toby tobias debut lp for delusions of grandeur dropping on the 16th october we wanted to give you a little taste of what to expect with a couple of tracks plus a brilliant remix from dog regular franc spangler. kicking things off we have the twisted machine funk of the wonder featuring vocals from atwell. 808 beats bringing the vintage electro vibes whilst atwell’s vocal hints at the golden era of chicago house, adding a soulful touch to the rigid groove. next up is only getting better, diving into deeper waters with bubbling pads and pulsing bass line. finally, we have franc spangler getting busy on the remix, turning in a floor focused jam which brings the vocal to the fore and a big beefy bassline to bounce to.

repress 2015 - those notorious victims of session return to what we like to think of as their spiritual home, if not their physical one, with the brilliant glow in the dark ep, and if you thought solomun and his neon nights were the only day-glow players in town its time to think again as the sv boys slap on the luminous paint and head straight to the dancefloor.

its toby tobias time folks! ahead of his brilliant lp which will be dropping here on dog in september we give you a little reminder of why he’s one of the heroes of the underground uk house scene. toby has been honing his skills as a producer, dj, promoter and all round nice guy for years now and we’re very happy to be offering up fresh new club business from the man himself in the form of the rising ep. never one to go for the obvious, he always puts his neck on the line and pushes his productions in an interesting and often unexpected direction, making full use of his fully analogue studio to get those ‘happy accidents’ into his tracks which gives him the edge over so many others on the scene today.

2015 looks like it could be the year that the danes make underground dance their own. the long running tartelet label changed direction last year and found a winning formula releasing the incredible max graef lp.

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

2014 was a big year for scott moncrieff aka thatmanmonkz. not only did his own label shadeleaf become firmly established he dropped brilliantly received releases on both kolour ltd and here on d.o.g.

time to welcome more new, undiscovered talent to the fold, this time we give you sheffield producer thatmanmonkz with an amazing ep entitled please dont slip, trip or fall off. thatmanmonkz came to our attention last year when his track that would be alright appeared on tone control music. the low slung, bluesy inflections combined with moodymann-esqe vocals and deep pads had us instantly hooked so when he presented us with three brand new tracks for delusions of grandeur we literally bit his hand off.

6th borough project have just dropped their second lp borough to borough to a great reaction and garnering much praise from djs and press alike.

finally, were treated to the epic closer that is camberwell beauty. mid tempo boogie beats with crunchy claps and steady hats lay the bedrock for a loping cs5 bassline whilst lush keys shimmer and swirl like little fluffy clouds in a bright summers sky.

6th borough project are all set to release the follow up to their 2011 debut lp one night in the borough at the start of march. a hectic couple of years have been lived out by graeme clark and craig smith during the making of their borough 2 borough lp with graeme continuing to play week in and week out as revenge and setting up his new imprint roar groove whilst craig has established the brilliant fifty fathoms deep label. studio time has been tight to say the least but that hasnt stopped the duo from pulling out all the stops and ensuring that this lp surpasses the already sky-high benchmark set by its predecessor

time to welcome soul 223 to the label with his debut delusions ep entitled fear of stopping. something of a complete legend in our eyes and ears, steve pickton has been releasing top drawer tuneage for over two decades both as stasis on influential labels such as b12 and peacefrog and more recently as soul 223 on equally well regarded imprints like delsin, soul jazz and neroli.

new years deal - time to welcome back ben sun to dog following his 2012 debut with us, the love momentum ep which had the likes of gerd, soul clap and red rackem salivating nicely.

manuel tur returns to delusions following his recent classic most of this moment on freerange and proceeds to throw another whacking great curveball for those who have think theyve got his game sussed. its quite safe to say the last year or so manuel has continued to push and redifne himself as a producer, refusing to stick to one sound or repeat himself which has resulted in some amazing releases aswell as some fruitful collaborations. recent remixes for permanent vacation, diynamic and dixons philomena label all display his deeper, left-of-centre and more techno-edged sound. here on delusions we have the (bi) polar opposite in the form of the foolin ep. the title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. a simple vocal refrain is spun in like a dj drops an accapella and once heard this will be stuck in your head for days. a firm fireside favourite with all of us here at dog. theres also an instrumental version of foolin for those with vocalitis. flipping over we have the traveller which sees manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. a subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.

pattern select aka milton jackson and show-b have gone well and truly back to the raw on this, their first collaborative work together and debut ep for delusions of grandeur. both producers have been busy on some top quality projects just recently with milton jackson remixing recloose for planet e and show b producing for robert owens on compost. the pair met at a party in munich, promptly fell in love, and soon enough pattern select was born. kicking off tale of the tape sees the pair go deep n dark on this low-slung groove where demonic laughter rides the driving hats and insesant crashes until the filtering arpeggiated synth line joins the fun. tale of the dub gives us a stripped back, dub-infused version which goes a little lighter on the craziness of the first version but without losing any of the deep, hypnotic funk.

deep space orchestra have been carving out a very nice name for themselves over the past year, and alongside the likes of cottam and krl it&#700,,,s safe to say that they are helping to establish an exciting new movement of raw, detroit-inspired house. the diy approach is very much a part of their ethic, as is the underground feel and aesthetic which imbues their own use of weapons label as well as their recent releases on similarly minded vinyl-orientated labels such as foto and kirk degiorgio&#700,,,s legendary art. the release we have here is perhaps their most refined music yet, showing a development in their production level on two tracks which are brimming with a warmth and fatness whilst retaining that critical raw edge which only a handful of the most exacting producers seem capable of. lo pan builds around a fat, bouncing bass line and a brilliantly lilting groove created by straight 808 hats and shuffling shakers. the feel keeps shifting throughout the song, sometimes superswung, sometimes straight and driving, all the while simple detroit strings build and analogue arps are layered up building the tension in the arrangemen

tornado wallace has had a great 12 months following his debut release paddlin on delusions put him firmly on the map of heavyweight young producers to watch. subsequent remixes for home taping is killing music, future classic and detroit label kolour have pushed him further to the forefront of deep and dubby slomo house scene. always twirling spins into action with driving 16th note hats, compressed pads and soaring strings. 808 snare fills rattle throughout and a warm, dubby bassline provides the speaker-troubling low end. twirl and the beanstalk goes for a more heads down, bare beats and bass approach resulting in an intense, floor friendly track that grooves extra hard. finally, we have whispering twirl, a sumptuous slice of midtempo deepness with a hint of boogie and a dash of soul

session victim are back with yet more 21st century explorations into the thing we call house. it s been a busy 12 months for the german duo since they re previous delusions outing, maintaining momentum by releasing some of the most inventive, warm, deep and soulful music on a host of vinyl orientated labels such as real soon, hairy claw and retreat

the oh so secretive and elusive franc spangler provides his first full ep for delusions of grandeur having previously provided mixes for alpha child on dog03 as well as for jimpster on freerange. on our 11th release we are very happy to offer up two variations on forever and a day with the original providing a full length arrangement loaded with deep pads, fizzing synth lines and franc?s trademark disco inspired drums. forever and a dub runs with a similar vibe whilst opting for a more stripped back and rolling vibe. still a very deep and musical track but with some space for the drums and squarewave bassline to work their magic. the arrangement subtly builds with layering synths providing the dynamics and interest. flip over for open eyes which sees franc drop the bpm?s for a loping, looping, sun-soaked epic purpose built for vibe augmentation of your next bbq gig

tornado wallace is the alter ego of a certain mr lewie day, hailing from melbourne and having recently started making great waves following excellent releases on murmur, 8bit and herzlich. tornado wallace pushes down the deeper, detroit-inspired route which is why he approached us here at delusions with these very special tracks.

manuel tur has been making some great music recently, whether it be as one half of the ribn project with partner langenberg, on numerous remixes alongside dplay or solo on a variety of labels such as mild pitch, pokerflat, freerange, mule music, drumpoet and now delusions of grandeur. fianchetto opts for a dark, spaced-out and deeply hypnotic vibe full of warm, subby disco beats, shimmering rhodes and echoing horns. a masterful production from manuel that is loaded with atmosphere and sounds mighty on a big system. next up we have beasts and the birds which goes for a heavy looped up disco approach full of raw detroit sensibilities and attitude. finally, tim toh (much respected and sickeningly young german producer releasing on soulphiction’s philpot label) stretches out beasts and the birds into a 9 minute journey into abstract dance. once again, we’re talking unrefined, no compromise house music here, the likes of which you won’t be hearing on an mos compilation anytime soon

having become a firm favourite of some of the best djs on the planet, delusions makes a welcome return with dog05 from the mighty 6th borough project. these guys can seemingly do no wrong at the moment putting out huge release after huge release on their instruments of rapture label as well as numerous remixes, edits and original productions on the likes of jisco music, phonica, deep freeze and delusions. how can i show you is a masterclass in slo-mo looped up deep disco house that will appeal to fans of mark e and of course the revenge. a hypnotic and grinding groove is what this little number is all about so play it loud and keep it slow. on the flip side we have soultourist (from our fave house label drumpoet) remixing miss world into a deep and driving filtered throbber with all the warmth and soul youd expect from these swiss master craftsmen. on aa2 youll find the ooft! remix of miss world going in a slightly darker, electronic direction introducing dubbed out synth stabs and a subsonic bottom end thatll warm your cockles

tuccillo joins delusions of grandeur for their forth release turning in two tracks of funk injected house that will work wonders on the dancefloor. hot from his releases with willie graff on freerange, circus company, drumpoet and liebe*detail, the ibizan producer delivers once again with a release that will put him firmly on the hype list for 2009. panorama is one of those tracks that will be played by djs right across the board and creates a killer vibe whether its at its original tempo of 118 or pitched right up for peak time action. the rolling beats, looped up guitar hit and siren synths create a mighty track that treads a familiar path but does so in such style that we challenge you not to get bitten by the bug. taken things in an altogether deeper, darker and more twisted direction with have switzerlands finest kalabrese taking care of the remix. his very capable hands and ears, not to mention vocal skills, have resulted in a warped, acidified excursion full of bottom end pressure and brilliant percussion. a real trip this one. finally, on the flip, we have tuccillos this time, taking things back into house territory with a funk filled workout that utilizes a pitched down vocal and horn stabs to great effect. that doesnt sound great on paper we know, but give it a listen cos it works a treat.

delusions hits the spot once again with number 3, this time highlighting the production skills of a certain zepp001. the seattle based disco obsessive has been leaking out high class edits over the years under a dizzying array of deliberately forgettable pseudonyms but feels the time is right to push his original tracks. who better then to make these beauties available for you discerning djs than delusions of grandeur. dont sleep is a dark, brooding groover with throbbing bass, cute cuica fills and intense strings that lalo schifrin would be proud of. a real heavy mood setter and as good an introduction to the sound of zepp001 as you re likely to need. next up we have the mighty revenge in for remix duties on dont sleep. the much hyped master of the edit keeps the vibe of the original well and truly in place but opts for an even more stripped back approach leaving all the space for crisp claps, slowly building strings and bowel wobbling bass. flip over for giraffe, a more upbeat affair where the filtered keys come to the fore and things steer in a hyped up deep house direction. show your luv...
