when the tsa agent left a little note in mike huckaby s dj case at the airport instructing him to protect the records that he dj s with, little did he know that mike huckaby would be compiling his first lp. a collection of previously released tracks that have been in demand ever since. all tracks are much louder now, and are remastered. this is also a collection of too many classics, produced by mike huckaby. enjoy

the jivers is a production duo formed by the two french djs/producers don pascal and fred spider. having not known each other before, their paths first crossed when both of them had moved to barcelona in 2007. soon they discovered their common love for deep and soulful music ranging from jazz, funk, brazil to nu-jazz, broken beat or house. their debut single >do what< has already been featured on the jazz&milk breaks compilation and received amazing feedback and spins from djs all over the globe and was brought to an even broader audience after being included on several compilations such as >saint germain des pres cafe<. now the song is being re-released in form of the do what ep including a brand new track called >move on girl<, again featuring the unmistakable voice of anqui and remixes by dj moodz, don pascal and fred spider. the jivers music can be described as a dance-floor oriented fusion of jazz elements with modern beat productions including the colorful and melodic vocals of anqui.

fünftes album des aus irland stammenden house- und techno-produzenten john daly, der bereits auf labels wie plak records, irr, mule musiq oder wave music veröffentlicht hat. die musik des iren ist gleichermaßen mit techno, house, disco, electronica und dub verbunden. charakteristisch für die tracks von john daly sind warme, ungeheuer organische sounds, die er zu einem guten teil mit hardware-synthesizern einspielt. >sunburst< erscheint als aufwändig gestaltete gatefold-doppel-lp mit beiligender cd

die letzte fsoj vol. 11 ist schon fünf jahre her, die erste kam 1995 raus. ich habe das gefühl die zeit dreht zurück. ein bischen erinnern mich die tracks - vor allem die langsamen stücke, wie so mancher sound - an die ersten >future sounds of jazz< compilations. ich kann sagen, ich hatte eine gewisse leerstelle von 2007 bis ende 2010, sah weder die notwendigkeit, noch hatte ich lust empfunden, eine neue fsoj zu machen. es gab seit 2007 schon den ein oder anderen tollen track, aber nicht genug, um gleich eine compilation daraus zu zimmern. zugegeben war ich, wie viele andere, mehr dem disco-, edit- und deep house-fieber verfallen. bin ich immer noch, aber die musik fusioniert wieder stärker mit den vibes, die ich für fsoj suchte.
es begann in 2010, festigte sich in 2011, ein déjà-vu ritt mich plötzlich, der viel beschworene zeitgeist wehte wieder. haufenweise gute tracks, interessante projekte, die von der Ästhetik, vom sound und feeling den frühen 90ern, oder meinem gutdünken ihre reminiszenzen aufwiesen. immerhin sind seit der vol. 1 schon zwei generationen nachgewachsen, sagt man doch, daß alle sieben jahre eine neue generation entsteht. ich denke, die jüngeren projekte (z.b.: lo tide aus australien, anchorsong und ragout delapin beides projekte aus japan, scrimshire, letherette, laszlo, sepalcure, eden) die hier vertreten sind, spiegeln das eindrücklich wieder.
