yeelen is a brand new project forged in the heart of a forgotten past. joe drive, of lux rec fame, and maurizio martinucci aka tez aka pragma have joined forces to sculpt, in their own words, -sonic constructions that transcend the canons of electronic music.- a bold statement, but then again this is a pretty bold ep. -techno tribalism and ritualistic soundscapes- are the bedrock from which this partnership cultivate their sound. figures and forms of a bygone time are conjured through intoxicating drum patterns, lost lands of dense jungle and windswept hills summoned through loops and samples to ensnare and entrance. polytheism explored through the prism of a polyphonic synth, mysticism born from machine drums, -ethnosonology of the future.-

deep sound channel delve deeper into the waters of eshu. following releases from arc# and tom liem comes j&l, the team of jocelyn abell and tom liem, with a storm of emotions. brooding, menacing, the tumult of uneven tides introduces. steady thuds support flows of warmth, flows countered by piercing coldness in a track that is as absorbing as it is haunting. a sea of veritable tranquillity descends for lunar tides. soften, staggered basslines are punctuated with crisp skeletal cymbal. new textures come to the surface for the autumnal currents of ocean tides. churning chords reflect night skies, shifting percussion floating amidst the jetsam.

-raid- is a near nine minute odyssey, a trip into shimmering cymbals, acid growls, placid lakes and ritualistic rhythms. the flip finds a breaking in the dense foliage: -the radiant city-, a sanctuary of soaring strings, soothing pads and entrancing harmo

dsc welcomes back boris bunnik, this time under his conforce moniker. two contrasting tracks are the offering. heavy thump introduces kernal of truth. angular melodies are painted on glass as a complex composition unfurls under the strain of galvanized percussion. the aquatic -oasis- occupies the flip. notes gentle lap a shoreline of burbling bass and distant percussion. echoes are submerged, folded in on themselves, as absorbing ambience envelops. two wonderfully different sides to the conforce sound.

cliche morph is a mysterious new entity, debuting with liquid materia. the title track melts streams of melody, chords dissolve in currents as a steady thump tries to tame the sonorous swash.

... well, solo for the opening track. -a liquid state- is a mellow, melting piece of marshy machine music. warmth flows as clicks and clacks orbit a soft and soothing syntheline in a track that epitomises the term ambient techno. acronym, of northern electronics and semantica fame, takes over the controls for the flip. percussion is folded and refolded, layered into itself into a hypnotic haze. behind these blurred beats a burbling bass bulges as gentle key strokes scatter for a remix brimming with textures and intensity.

channel#9 collects five tracks of free flowing techno from italy s ascion. a talent who has graced labels like 3th and repitch, this ep balances floor fervour with subtle warm washes and colder echoes.

four tracks of diverse and different techno make up deep sound channel s first compilation. past alumnus tripeo returns with the hulking tribalism of -raz.- breaks are built and rebuilt, demolished and razed in this gritty thumping workout. najem sworb, of clone and ai fame, is up next with the warbling atmospherics of -io ice- before matt tdk delivers the frigid and frosted -4714.- the finale is a smouldering sign off. jelle groen, under his modular scapes alias, serves a brooding acid infused piece bathed in 90s idm flows. limited to 250 coloured copies in a printed sleeve.

once again the dutchman from the north boris bunnik (who actually resides in rotterdam now, but that aside) is showcasing his magic fingers, this time on shipwrec s deep techno offshoot deep sound channel. hinterland is a topnotch ice-cold but heartwarming submarine electro/techno album with distant hints of idm, in other words the perfect soundtrack for the long midwinter nights to come.

this four track ep kicks off with cladistic mutation , a sparse underwater soundtrack with only the gentlest suggestion of rhythm, lots of reverb and tiny little details that float by like micro-bacterial debris. m2 is a more beat driven dub track but is still way below the surface: the kicks are smooth and hunched over, the chords are smeared out in all directions and the atmosphere is lo-fi and grainy. on the flip, grain gets even more energetic, with firm techno kick drums setting a stern tempo as all sorts of aqueous details and spacious effec ts peppe r the groove. there s a heavenly nature to the pads and an industrial texture to the percussion that makes this a cerebral but physical affair from start to finish. lastly, neurowaves closes things down in blissfully dubbed out and horizontal fashion, with large sweeping pads, tweaked filters and evocative little details all placing you firmly under water.

mike parker is next to release on deep sound channel - a sub label of the dutch shipwrec imprint - and as ever the two tracks he offers up are made of twisted analogue frequencies that work their way into your brain.

ghostek graced shipwrec in 2011 with the excellent easy changes. now the russian producer returns to the dutch imprint with two tracks for deep sound channel

vinyl only! alien rain is a tainted techno project of milton bradley. under this alias the berlin based artist has served up disgruntled electronics and downright deranged acid. panel beaten 90s tracks that pervert and pummel. floor a-bombs that leave behind nothing but a 303 wasteland. mr bradley has caught the attention of deep sound channel and been called upon to deliver his style of hypnotic fallout techno. two sealed vials of audio venom are the result.
