marco resmann returns to watergate after a productive stint at the red bull music studios in cape town with two stellar cuts featuring local heroes deep aztec and black soda. tack on a remix from the one and only oliver huntemann and another revision from resmann himself and you have the ‘babylon side ep. teaming up to kick things off, resmann, black soda and deep aztec embrace the cultural sounds of africas organic percussion and vocal prowess to create a tour de force tune perfectly balance between flashing club lights and vast open skies. following suit, ‘abadala sees marco again with deep aztec for a lush ride into deep emotional spaces by applying mesmerizing syncopated rhythms and spellbinding vocals ideal for deeper or more sentimental dance floor moments. up next is techno legend oliver huntemann who, playing after resmann earlier this year at the 15 years of watergate event at warung beach club in brazil enjoyed his set and the two hit it off, so logically he was asked to lend his trademark sound for a revision of ‘babylon side and he twists the original into a heavy techno belter complete with sinister sonics and fever inducing sirens. wrapping things up is marco resmann himself with his own take on ‘babylon sides and delivers a wild and twisted version of gargantuan low end and psychedelic shimmers of the original vocal resulting in a killer tune with a ton of attitude.

dj deep is know as one of the key players in the french house and techno scene for many years now! recently he found some old recordings on dat tapes. going through these tapes he heard several tracks that somehow still sounded fresh!. after listening he got fascinated. he describes some of the cuts as raw and somehow naive tracksand as something naive, authentic and honest. so here we are... with a nice piece of wax that has 2 great tracks produced around 1994-1997, and 2 solid 2011 remixes. rootstrax comes with an excellent mix that is an emotional deep take that really captures the emotion of the original and brings it to a much more mature and deep territory. the marcelus mix gives us a much more radical, uncompromising techno interepretation. another stunner on deeply rooted house!!

mitglieder aus bands wie landshapes, peggy sue, stealing sheep machen sich daran, das image des traditionellen chors mit charmanten indie-coverversionen zu entstauben. deep throat choir, ein im jahr 2013 von luisa gerstein gegründetes weibliches ensemble, dessen musik als eine hommage an die grundelemente des musikmachens verstanden werden möchte, ist mittlerweile auf etwa 30 sängerinnen angewachsen und veröffentlicht nun das debütalbum be ok. hier geht es neben der liebe zum chorgesang vor allem um das zusammenspiel von unverfälschten frauenstimmen, die vertrackten melodien und den texten im kollektiv mehr kraft und nachdruck verleihen können als es eine einzelne stimme vermag. in den vergangenen jahren trat der deep throat choir bei verschiedenen shows und festivals auf und arbeitete mit künstlern wie peggy sue (ebenfalls mitglied im chor), matthew e white, stealing sheep und dillon zusammen. das debütalbum be ok beinhaltet sowohl eigene kompositionen als auch lieder von björk, amy winehouse, little dragon, electrelane, wildbirds and peacedrums und mk.

we are really proud and honored to present espectrum, a year-long effort to put together a compilation of the best dub techno. the idea was simple, but ambitious: ask some of our favorite artists for one track to epitomize dub techno—the style of music we’ve loved and continued to develop since our birth as producers and a label. with a very precise idea of what we wanted to collect, the compilation was carefully built with hypnotic, obscure, dense, and magical sounds with an eternal hook. these are the kind of tracks that will never lose their appeal, because they go above and beyond labels, styles, and trends, resisting the passage of time. after the first tracks starting coming in, the idea grew more and more special, and the concept even stronger. we knew we were onto something really big. and, finally, here it is.
