in december of 2015, they cemented that reputation by taking their first trip from their home in como, ms up to harlem, ny to crush the apollo theater as part of the daptone super soul revue. taking full advantage of their presence in town, the daptone crew brought ester mae wilbourn, della daniels, and angelia taylor into the house of soul the week after the show to join forces for the first time with the musicians and studio that has defined their label’s sound. jimmy hill, thomas brenneck, homer steinweiss, and bosco mann, all stalwarts of the daptone stable, came together as “the glorifiers band,” to put down a churning musical foundation for these amazing singers. the results are some of the heaviest tracks that daptone has cut to date. if you don’t like raw, soulful gospel music, you’re really gonna hate this one. move upstairs is a real mother!

after his very successful remix of slip away on noir music we are extremely delighted to release this incredible ep from olivier. paris based giacomotto is no new name to the scene but he has hit a sweet spot on noir music with his recent productions and this postgalactic 4-tracker might be his best effort to date. all 4 tracks move in the same universe but show giacomotto from melodic to the more minimal sound. its been ages since weve heard such a solid effort from 1 artist and we have been all smiles here since giacomotto decided to shower noir music with his great productions.

repress incoming! a blast from the past... one of the most iconic tracks from the noir music back-catalogue makes a remixed revival. 3 impressive remixes to spice up your dj sets. victor ruiz makes bipolar star a fantastic big room techno stomper with his signature sound and just the right amount of melody from the original to make it recognizable. re:axis almost makes the track unrecognicable with a more minimal techno approach. something i am sure will please the forefront of the underground techno scene. animal picnic & aaryon almost pays tribute to the original with their very cool update keeping a lot of the original feel but cleverly tweaked the elements to sound super fresh again. i believe there’s a little something for everyone in this remix package which was the purpose behind doing it instead of a bunch of remixes sounding the same. i hope you like the new remixes and put “bipolar star” right back into rotation.
