after showcasing individual talents in its first compilation, rotate’s second release opens the co-working space and begins a series of releases with the sole objective of engaging its in-house artists in spontaneous collaborations and collective thinking.

while pheek may have been in operation for as long as anyone can remember within minimal house and techno, cleymoore has been most productive more recently thanks to his pluie/noir label. following on from last years seikou single on xquisite, here cleymoore and pheek link up to deliver some densely packed, production rich jams that keep the spirit of mid-00s clicks and cuts alive. the beats themselves may be slender slices that carry the energy of the tracks, but it s all in the infinitesimal details in between that the true magic of this music comes alive.

vinyl only. portuguese vinyl-only imprint xquisite recordings is finally back. two years ago, romanian talent ivel tax cut the ribbon for the imprints debut, dropping a very appropriately considered >exquisite< double tracker of carefully selected, uplifiting tracks. with solid drum programming and a dreamy, hooky edge that moved heads, ears and feet worldwide, the kick-off for the imprint started with great momentum. this time around, xquisite places its bets on one of portugals freshest talents, cleymoore, along with a remix from worldwide known alchemist of micro-grooves, thomas melchior. the cover is fully illustrated with a photograph of old lisbon, making this a very intimate and proudly nationalistic release for the imprint. design by diogo lacerda. limited pressing.

the untold stories are back with the fourth release in their protagonist series. starting their 2016 release schedule with some positive vibes from something records boss stephan stl laubner, the ep entitled renbual nahpets, the story: two beautiful dub house originals on the aside, and a tripped out extended remix by cleymoore filling the bside. a welcome return for the label who lit up the beginning of 2015 with an impressive run of eps and va collections, looks like more to come this year!

rotate’s first release as a vinyl imprint comes as a collective sonic statement of seven chapters. with tracks from all the music crafters of the family, rotate starts the year with steady momentum, in a collection of different-yet-unified sound that combines wit, fresh attitude and unique musical signatures.

hedonism is an ethical theory that pleasure, in a sense of satisfaction of desires, is the highest good and proper aim of human life, and this seems to also be hdnsm’s ultimate musical objective. their first release debuted as a kickstarter of “variant ep” v.a. series, showcasing three very different yet highly contemplative creations from cumsecade, anestie gomez and man spider. hdnsm flips the coin and for the second episode of “variant” series it lands on two very solid, incredibly moody and extensive works from fresh talents shcaa and cleymoore. the ep features two very different tracks yet they share the same minimalistic core. both works are blessed with intricate micro-drum arrangements for those feeling groove hungry whilst still standing tall in the experimental abstract realm pleasing those who crave unusual frequencies. a-side’s “masquée” is one of shcaa’s typical rides between sound and silence and it is hard to find another artist who understands sound gaps between grooves better than shcaa does. with his signature vocals and an incredibly delicious duality between acoustic instrumentalism and electronic slamming, this is a groovy, highly deep, very intelligently arranged piece. the flip-side “nebula”, signed by pluie/noir’s boss cleymoore, is a tip of an iceberg when it comes to the art of stripping down. in an apparently thin canvas of minimal drum arrangements there’s a vast amount of sound frequencies underneath a steady ever-kicking groove, tricking your mind into thinking that you’re hearing less than you actually perceive. nebula is hypnotic and dense but focused and sophisticatedly groovy. like the repetitive vocals you’ll hear throughout the b-side, this v.a. sticks to your mind like an addiction of some sort and pushes hdnsm to a new standard of avant-garde and forward-thinking attitude. as before, this vinyl only release comes in a gorgeous cover featuring a painting from max binski and the number of copies available is limited

chapter ii of the the untold stories, begins with the beat circle, a new project of denis kaznacheev and ol, an epic work of attitude, an anthem for a new beat generation, filling the whole aside with groovy sliding bases, crisp clean cut claps, eccentric electric interactions, rich moments of imagination: decaying tones come as if some great engine then arrives to take the dancers further on their journey.
